The FPS genre has already been ruined and the RTS genre is hibernating. That is 100% true, though we have had some gems with HL2, Portal, and L4D. Eventually, someone will reinvent the genre or create a new one. It's just a matter of time before something better comes along, though gaming will never truly die. People never run out of ideas.
