fantastic Posted August 24, 2019 Content Count: 2341 Joined: 08/31/15 Status: Offline Share Posted August 24, 2019 Dead chat is super weird at the moment. Dead people can hear each other talk, but can also talk to the their teammates who are alive. This makes it really easy to ghost. It may make more sense to have a system where: 1. For 7 seconds after you die you can talk with your teammates that are alive and your teammates that are dead. No talking to the other team, period. 2. After this 7 second call-out window, you can no longer talk to anyone who is alive and you can only talk to people who are dead. Link to comment

If it was just voice comms with your team only when you're dead then it'd become a sweat factory. I think having dead alltalk helps lighten the mood of the server and allow for more fun to be had. Implementing a plugin like this would end up being a headache and might just hinder the server in the long run. Link to comment

It already is a sweat factory... additionally, rarely does anyone talk in dead chat with the other team; rather, everyone is still giving callouts to those alive on their own team. I'm curious though - what do you mean when you say it might hinder the server in the long run to prevent cross-team communication while dead? Link to comment

Changing anything right now because of initial perception is pretty irresponsible to do. I'm going to push to allow for this to stay in effect so long that nothing game-breaking comes out of having cross-team communication. In my opinion, this is a case where if it ain't broke, I shouldn't fix it. Link to comment

In my opinion, this is a case where if it ain't broke, I shouldn't fix it. There's already been several cases of accidental ghosting where someone says "dammit Manny, you baited me!" and the other team's dead people rush to say "there's one more there!" as a result of that accidental leak of info because of frustration. TBH I see this as a case where it is broken and it should be fixed... this is similar to if dead people in scrim were able to talk to others who were dead. It's an avenue for ghosting, and people do use it (either intentionally or unintentionally) if given the opportunity. Link to comment
duffy Posted August 25, 2019 Content Count: 590 Joined: 08/25/18 Status: Offline Share Posted August 25, 2019 (edited) Just have it where you can talk to the other dead players but you can type to your teammates. I always type to my teammates when I die instead of saying something so I don't interrupt them. Or just don't change it at all. I mean, this is more centered around fun rather than sweating your balls off to get frags. Edited August 25, 2019 by duffy Link to comment

It’s retakes not an actual comp match. But I do agree with what you said @fantastic ghosting so far isn’t a problem on the server from what I’ve seen when I’m on but to prevent they can just have a limited time the dead can talk to their alive teammates. Manny Posted August 25, 2019 Content Count: 1794 Joined: 12/31/17 Status: Offline Share Posted August 25, 2019 This is not broken at all and so far it's going exactly how I saw it would go. Especially because I already see the atmosphere of the server, in dead chat, heading towards the reason why I have it the way it is. To promote a more chilled environment where not everything has to be super serious. I'd also like to state that comparing Scrim and Retakes will not convince me to change anything. Retakes is not for the players of SG, but for the players of Retakes. The same how Jailbreak is for Jailbreak players and TTT is for TTT players and so on with MG, ZE, Surf.. etc. Just because scrim has it one way does not mean Retakes will get it. The direction of the environment of scrim and retakes are not going to be in tandem. They are two different servers, run by different people, with a different goal. Link to comment
