It has come to my attention that several people would like to see an SGSL take place during the quarantine and have decided to post this thread a bit earlier than expected. I would not mind running and hosting one, but if few people will play, then I find no point. For this SGSL to be successful I am looking to have at least 8+ teams who would be dedicated to playing and not throw each match or just fuck around. I would also like to have some people help get matches set if I am not there, stream, cast, and look over the matches.

Rules and general setup would be similar to how @Exk ran his last SGSL. The Shattered Web Agent models would also be disabled.

If there is anything that turns you away from participating or any suggestions please post under here. This thread is not to get the event started or have teams selected yet, but is another interest thread. I am also free to answer questions about the event.

One other thing. There was a suggestion here that gives an idea on making the teams more even. TLDR everyone would be put in a draft pool and captains would choose from there. So you could not pre-determine or create your own teams beforehand. What worries me with this is the potential lack of dedication a player(s) may have to their team and the match.

Let me know which way you would prefer your teams picked.

1. You guys can make your own like how the last two have gone.

2. There are selected captains who choose from the pool of players.

One thing that should happen is set times for matches. Give the caltains a couple of dates and times to choose from with their teams instead of having participants set their own matches up cause it’ll probably end up like the R6 event where half the teams forfeit due to not finding a suitable time before the deadline.

I think that having captains select their teams would go best. Team chemistry is a huge factor in actually wanting to do this. I think we should do like I mentioned before where after the championship game, the top two players of the tournament based off avg kills a match, ADR, and player-vote get to choose a team of 4 other starters and 2 subs to go head to head.

I would definitely be down to do this. I love doing scrims here and would love to be part of another SGSL.

What would be the point in a tournament then if your ending team is not the same as you started? Would awards also be messed up too?

I think you're misunderstanding.

The entire tourney would go as normal. It would be an all-star game after where you draft.

Think of it like the NFL and the Pro Bowl.

I gotchu, that definitely seems interesting to do after it’s over.

I've got a few suggestions for our next SGSL if we do end up doing one.

1. Have a map pool that people agree on, so it would be fair game to whatever map is chosen, and we would know what we were getting into.

2. Increase the qualifications to get into the tournament. It's not fair to have a community event where someone can enlist 4 esea semi-pros to play in a community event that they aren't a part of, just because they created a forum account that they never logged back into. The tournament should be for people in the community, and we can make exceptions but your entire team roster should contain mostly people that have been/are active in the community. It feels more like a mm game where I'm versing 3-4 randoms that have a lot more skill so they can skew the tournament in their favor. Maybe have like a post or server playtime requirement to show that they've been present in the community outside of the tournament.

All-star game would be dope. Perfect timing for the quarantine. I think we could make this work.

I agree, although it would be unfair to the competition since I would clearly win and be in the all-star game.
