this thing has no necessary use outside of VERY controlled scientific research. A dot from the laser can be seen as far as 45 miles away. You can fucking blind the pilot of an airplane if you wished. You could take this to a football stadium and point it at any part of the bleachers and blind or cause permanent damage to THOUSANDS in a few seconds.

From quite a large distance, even the reflection of this bastard off of an entirely matte wall can blind you quite quickly, causing irreversible damage in milliseconds.

Its quite disturbing that it's even remotely legal to sell these to consumers.

of course its not vodka. the laser in that video is one TENTH the power of the one in the article.

To put it further into context, as far as human skin is concerned, that 1W blue laser is 1000 times the intensity of the sun, and about 75 times more irradiating than the MAX your skin can tolerate, and could very likely cause cancer from very short, direct exposure.

What use would the military have with 1W lasers when they could easily have some that are 10 or 100 times as powerful. The entire "controversy" around this laser is that there seems to be no reason to exist other than let people hurt themselves. (And be cool.)

Think about it... Super. Flash. Bang.

It says you need a license to buy it, how hard a license is to acquire is another story.
