Haikus:

 

Wet drops hit the ground

as the bright sun runs away

umbrellas open.

 

The misty cloud creeps

through every town and city

blinding everyone.

 

The popsicle box

is taken from the cooler,

and it melts slowly.

noise

of the players

on the field:

baning of helmets

and referees shouting in all

v o c a b u l a r i e s

of

clash

crunch

bang

thrilling s p e e c h

c o m b i n a t i o n s:

as fans from above cheer

as loud as

thunder

booming in my ears

with

the

always

noise

c r a s h i n g

of the stadium:

football music.

Medicine cabinets on the wall

Doctors roaming down the hall

Hospitals don’t frighten me at all.

Nurses listening to hearts

As they write on their charts

Hospitals don’t frighten me at all.

 

Pointy needles in my skin

Blood samples in the bin

Hospitals don’t frighten me at all.

Doctors test

If my bone works its best

Hospitals don’t frighten me at all.

 

I may cry

They ask why,

Then I behave

And act so brave,

I walk out

Without a doubt,

That there is no shame

In this claim

If people on SG were decent poem writers, this thread would work.

Sadly, we aren't.

Also, poetry (non-romantic) in recent times has turned into, well, mopey mopey emoness (my cousin did a lot of emo poetry, i know) rather than way way way back when people put effort into it.
