Never been on the SG ZE server before, but I am muted when I try to talk.

I have no idea why I'm muted. I don't ever remember going onto the Steam Gamers Zombie Escape server, but whenever I attempt to use voice chat, there is a message on the side of my screen saying I'm muted. Can someone explain why, because I have no clue.
