Whenever starts talking to me (whether it be a brand new conversation, or one that I've been continuing for quite some time,) the friend window never flashes when I receive a message. I checked my settings - both "Display a Notification" and "Play a Sound" are checked. The sound comes out fine, but the window never flashes. As I don't keep earphones on 24/7, sometimes it takes quite some time before I even notice the chat has appeared. So, I'm on Windows Vista Home Premium, 32bit. I do have STEAM set for administrative privileges, and have it set to Windows XP compatibility mode. I posted this in the steam support as well, but as it'll easily take them a week to answer, I figure I might as well give here a shot too. Any suggestions? Link to comment

If you are in a steamgame then the window wont flash (for example when you are running the game windowed mode, or minimized) If you aren't gaming, then go to your taskmanager because sometimes Gmod stays active, even tho you closed it.
