I think this band is fucking awesome... I saw them live and I think they are one of the better newer metal bands out today. I have been a fan of them for a while now and have all of their albums. Can't wait for the new album to roll out hopefully by the end of this year.

very good band. for some reason i cant understand, they get a lot of hate. labeled as new fag metal and other similar terms. both corey and matt are awesome guitarists, and their drummer with which they parted ways was pretty badass too. travis smith i think was his name.

 

i think shogun is my favorite album by them. either "shogun" or "insurrection" is my favorite song, but "down from the sky" has one fkn killer intro.

 

any haters, id love to hear your argument. i have yet to hear any valid claims, but if you think you have some, id like to dispute them with you

People that hate the band are just going to hate because of their tastes - nothing you can do about that. Lots of people criticize Corey's vocals (especially live) and how they re-use riffs a bunch. Oh, and can't forget the classic "Metallica ripoff" label.

 

But yeah, screw the people that hate on the band..their loss. I love Ascendancy, and Shogun had some good songs too. I'm hoping to try and warm up enough to start playing some of their songs on guitar this summer..they play so god damn fast.

Ever since the release of The Crusade album, that is when the whole "Metallica rip-off" bullshit started happening. The band was just experimenting with harsh vocals instead of screaming and because of that, they got shit for it. I do like how they went back to their previous style in Shogun though.

Personally their first album, Ember To Inferno, is my favorite by them. That album sounded a bit more melodic death metal influenced and I think this band has great capabilities to make melo-death metal. Their new drummer is sick when it comes to blast beats so hopefully there is a chance to write their music like the first album.
