I've yet to really understand the purpose of a 4th dimension on anything. To me, his idea of lines and boxes are just a bunch of 2d lines.

I think, essentially, he is saying do the lines that make the two cubes exist once the two cubes are made one.

 

Basically, from what I gather he's trying to say, is that you take two cubes, you put them next to each other, then by some mystic force they're made into a rectangle, do the lines that made up the sides to connect the cubes still exist? Or are they in the fourth dimension.

 

All in all, I think discussing 4d is just lame. It's like discussing whether or not, "If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?".

Humanity is stupid, 4d is irrelevant to our knowledge since we cannot imagine something out of our borderline, we live and breath in a 3D world, we can always try to imagine it, but you cannot really create something 4D in a 3D world.
