You can't pull a gun unless they shoot first, and that would fall under self defense.

 

Now that is where you are wrong. You can pull a gun on somebody if you're feeling threatened and they are approaching you. Then again, it really depends upon state laws; that's in my state. If you actually stop to think about it for a few seconds, what if that guy's shot is a shot to your head? You really wouldn't have time to defend yourself, now would you?
