Either you catch a male or a female, there's a only a few its(mostly legendary pokemons). Some are just only male or female... Actually in the the GEN I games all of them, except the Nidorans + the evolutions, were its Wasn't till GEN II that they had genders and that was probably only for breeding And Chris the TV show was meh... There is no-way you could remember all in order without cheating. I can remember 59. you can be playing the original pokemon games in a matter of minutes with an emulator these days.
