It's just the tastes. Some people like wide and some like regular and I'm talking by experience.

widescreen, it is better for watching movies, and plus it just lookers more natural and is easier on your eyes as it fills the natural viewing space your eyes cover

very few normal ratio screens are even made anymore, most are from no name brands or just one or two models on major brand names. Dell doesn't really sell them any more, neither do most stores. Widescreen definitely has more selection. Widescreen is nicer, and performance wise it's not about aspect ratio but about pixels, image quality and color quality that matter...
