i have been thinking about switching my laptop to run linux. only thing is, i dont know if it ill support steam, css, or vent. im tired of vista and want sometime new but dont have the cash to buy a mac or get a better gaming rig. this is the only computer i have so having steam and vent is a must.

 

 

would i be able to use linux and still be able to use steam, itunes, and vent using hack like programs to mae them work? help plox.

linux can run programs that windows can run with the help of a program called "wine"

 

to tell you the truth linux is now worth it. if u want to game at all u basically have to stick with windows.

the only problem you have wine such programs as "wine" is that it is an emulator. so basically you will be running 2 x OS's at once then on top of that you will have the demands of a gmes and all of windows background processors on top of the linux based OS you plan to run, you will need a shit load of processing power+ram+gfx for the game to run as smoth as you want it to. i would say any linux based OS is good, but absolutly shite for gaming, if you want to stick to gaming, go xp or Windows 7
