alright, so for a while my computer's videocard's (geforce 6600 256mb [yeah oldschool baby]) fan has sounded like a twig stuck in a bike's spokes... so today i go to start it up, and nothing happens. computer is on, but monitor, mouse, keyboard, all weren't recognized (monitor was on standby, optical mouse and keyboard lights were off). so i turn off the computer, and unplug it to reset the motherboard fully. this time everything is recognized, except after the first screen on the startup (which is an intel screen), it just freezes. i turned off the computer again, unplugged it, except this time i jiggled on the videocard a bit, and everythings working. what do you guys think it is? time to get a new videocard?

There could be a lot of dust in the fan of your 6600gt.

I had the same problem on a very old MX440 and the card eventually died because of poor cooling.

Just do what Veggie says, pick up a 9800gt or a hd5750 and you won't have any problems.

I suggest you try and clean your pc of dust every 6 months or so to avoid problems like this in the future.
