I just hope mine doesn't come with problems. HP is a bit of an annoyance.

I'm moving to Chicago to go to DePaul University. I'm going to study CG Animation and Game Development. Much why I got this baby.

 

PS- The bd drive is a slot-loader.

it did have a screen at one point... infact I think I could put another on if I ever wanted, but I use my netbook mostly now anyway. For specs its an Turion64 x2 1.5 gb of ram 160 gb hard drive dvd burner, vista home premium 64-bit oh and a nvidia 6150 go se gpu, its a beast I know

Yeah I mainly hook it up to my telly to stream movies and such as well as using it as my dedicated download machine. I did get another laptop after this one broke, but I gave it to my sister when I bought my desktop so its just me and my 900mhz netbook for portable computing.

 

Oh yeah I'm probably going to get a used dell laptop soon

Idk yet. People complain about it if you get dual HDDs, but I think I'll be okay. We'll see. My current laptop can fry eggz. It even shuts itself down if I have it on a game for more than 30 mins. Being a metal case, it probably will get hot. I'm buying a laptop cooler anyways. Not gonna move it around very much after I move.

Pretty nice. I wonder how long that 9 cell will last though with that 5850 running. Do you know if there is any way to switch between a dedicated GPU and an integrated GPU like you can with a ThinkPad or MacBook Pro?

Nice laptop for what you gonna do I guess.. I still dont get why people buy 17 inch laptop though..why not just use a PC and a netbook or slightly better performing notebook around 13 or 14 inches max.. but thats my opinion!
