AMD retires the ATI brand name

The ATI brand has been around the computing space for as long as many of us can remember. Four years ago, AMD acquired ATI but left the name to live on due to its strong brand in the graphics space. Now those days are over, as the graphics division at the chipmaker is at its strongest

 

 

This makes me sad every graphics card I've ever bought has been an ATI card.At least they're keeping the radeon branding around.

Interesting. I always knew they were on of the same but I didn't know that it actually bolstered sales. Kinda sad people that shop for graphics card and are thus likely to be looking for performance above all else would jump up and down because they learned a bigger brand name was behind them.

I was surprised that they haven't done this earlier considering they bought ATI what 5 years ago?

I'm okay with it as long as they don't take away Ruby as the Poster Girl for ATI >

RIP ATI, I still remember my first graphics card for my own computer was a ATI card.
