Many times I have tried to record demos. Either is be for player complaints or just hilarious moments. But in some cases, I encounter a problem with the demo and it moves at like half a frame per year. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it.

Yeah I had encountered that problem once. Idk how to fix it but it goes away sometimes, I haven't had a problem for a week with any of my demos. But just be ready that there might be some more 10 fps demos coming your way. So if you need to record make sure to record 2 demos just to be safe.

I had the same issue with a few of my demos too. 1-10 fps playback with demoui.

Whats weird is that if I use 'timedemo' to view the demo, the demo plays normally or slightly worse off than normal.

Hopefully someone knows the reason this is happening and/or what we should do to avoid it.

Im away from my desk for the moment, however, It sounds like it may be a recent patch issue. There is probably a simple fix, but for the moment, I would use a third party program to record your screen. I'm fairly certain Fraps is still free with a watermark, but it's good for a free backup program.

But for now, hopefully someone else can cover this fix.

Turns out it's a commonly known client issue that Valve has failed to fix yet. Below are some possible fixes found within these threads
