  1. Don't they announce them this sunday? If the casino is still active I wonder if I can set up a betting thing for it.
  2. Oh I totally agree, I'd find it more plausable that we end up in contact with self-replicating machines instead of anything organic. Mainly due to the vast distances of space the nearest star would take hundresds of years for our fastest space craft to reach.
  3. Its more for inteligent life...life that we can communicate with, not just humaniods.
  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! DO THE BIRTHDAY DANCE!!!!!
  5. http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/space/03/06/nasa.kepler.launch.planets/index.html Kepler Telescope launched last week. This telescope's main mission is to look for exosolar planets. These planets are orbiting far off stars and are able to be detected as the planet makes a transit, passes infront of the star, and the size and distance from the star is determined by the "wobble" created when the transit occurs. We will not find life from a telescope, but we could find the best potential star systems that could be inhabitable. To put it in perspective when Voyager 1 took a picture of Earth from where it was about 10 Billion miles away, all you could see is a "pale blue dot". Even with our Hubble telescope Pluto is only 4 pixels wide. So we won't be able to photograph exoplanets but we'll know they are there.
  6. Congratulations all around!!!! :-D
  7. Its should have been done automatically. Looks like its done.

  8. Actually you can modify the equasion for other galaxies, its just harder to gauge the different things involved since we cannot differentiate the individual stars in other galaxies. But in therory, you can, its just primarly based in galaxies.
  9. Its binary And WE HAVE A WINNAR!
  10. The key thing here is these are estimations. Obviously its nearly impossible to count all the galaxys, stars, or planets and determine if they are in the habitable zones. But these are mainly estimations that gives people hope to finding intelligent life. Europa has probably the most realistic source for life elsewhere in our solar system. Granted the surface is near absolute zero temperatures, but due to possible vulcanic activity in the core and Jupiters massivly strong magnetosphere causing crazy radiaton its possible about 100 miles under the surface there is liquid water. It hasn't been proved obviously no probe has drilled but its most likely to have it. The life forms on Europa are most likely non-inteligent but they would be considered life. My suggestion to anyone interested in stuff like this should catch "The Universe" on the History Channel...they have a whole episode dedicated to this.
  11. Maybe you need to take some more mushrooms to see what it is :-P
  12. They both are the same message, the only difference is the rows and columns. The 2nd one if you see it almost gives it away. I think astrum might be able to figure it out, he's smart in that way. :-D
  13. Tell me what this means: And can look like this as well: Good luck!
  14. Theres actually a mathmatical equasion to answer your question: N is the number of civilizations in our galaxy with which communication might be possible; and R* is the average rate of star formation in our galaxy fp is the fraction of those stars that have planets ne is the average number of planets that can potentially support life per star that has planets fℓ is the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop life at some point fi is the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop intelligent life fc is the fraction of civilizations that develop a technology that releases detectable signs of their existence into space L is the length of time such civilizations release detectable signals into space. This is known as the Drake Equation Plug the numbers in and you'll know how much life is in the universe. :-P The general accepted answer amung people who believe this could be a good estimate is: N = 7 × 0.5 × 2 × 0.33 × 0.01 × 0.01 × 10000 = 2.31 So estimated value, theres 1 other inteligent civilization outside of us somewhere in the universe.
  15. I beleive we can set the start map, but I dunno if that has caused issues in the past or not.
  16. The Board of Directors are excited to announce the promotions of LVG to Adminstrative Officer and Andre1028 and Svendy to Community Advisors! Their continued dedication and hard work within the community have earned them this promotion. We also would like to announce that Raven Maniac and Falcon have stepped down from their posts as adminstrative officers but will continue to be a apart of this community as advisors. We appreciate and thank them for the time and dedication they put forth in this community. Congratulations and thank you's to these people are in order. Hip Hip....
  17. I agree with haggard here. Wolfservers do a really good job in customer service and the quality of their servers are good.
  18. For whatever reason of you entering that command in console, which I suggest you never try to do again. To fix, type exec config.cfg in console.
  19. Or restart your router.
  20. Huzzah and Congrats!
  21. Happy Birthday Fettie!
  22. Happy Birthday all around!!!
  23. Everything I see you should be able to upload. If its over a certain file size it won't work cause we have limits.

  24. Happy Birthday!!! :birthday::birthday: :birthday2::birthday2:
  25. Happy Birthday!
