Dont buy another 1 gig or 2 gig stick of ram, keep all the ram modules all the same, if you want 3 gig of ram, buy 3x1 gig sticks or 2x2 because if its DDR2 it likes to be paired, your system will be stable and performance will be alot better than getting un-matched ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184 ram is cheap at the moment especially ddr2 do you know what your MoBo supports?

try cleaning the registry files as well as all the system cleaning thingys before you spend the hard earned cash. also get a can of compressed air and clean the fans, css isnt that hard to run.
