I really like Brain Mantia (Primus/Buckethead/Guns N Roses/etc etc). His grooves are just fun and he's got great energy. Sounds like a vid card/mobo issue. I had something similar with my laptop when playing source based games, had to get a new vid card sent to me (also nvidia). A couple people needed new motherboards. Other than that not sure.

It's a lot easier to build PCs now. I had been using the same laptop for 3 years up until last year when I finally built a desktop. Especially when it comes to the hard drives. SATA is so much simpler, no more retarded slave/master etc, just plug n play.

Ironically getting head start when it comes to building a PC isn't always the best idea because of falling prices/new technology.
