Psyche Posted March 13, 2010 Content Count: 3343 Joined: 06/03/08 Status: Offline Share Posted March 13, 2010 I keep getting bad FPS problems with Tf2, before I was able to get 60+ FPS on Max, now I get the same FPS but whenever I see gibs, explosion, fire or rocket trails I lag to 10 FPS. I have updated my drivers and added TF2 to my exception list on my Anti-Virus and I am still lagging. Help. Link to comment

Toxin Posted March 13, 2010 Content Count: 2115 Joined: 05/06/08 Status: Offline Share Posted March 13, 2010 There is a bunch of that on the forums and good solutions too. Alternatively, look up Quantum's HighFPS config on google, it reconfigs your TF2 and can add up to 30+ fps Link to comment

Like adding new hardware? Also you should try verifying your game cache, then defragging it. Link to comment

Go on your games list, and right click Tf2. Select properities and Set launch options. Write "-dxlevel 80" without quotes. If you still get the lagg, let me know, I will find a program to defrag your steam games if you dont have one. Link to comment

James Posted March 14, 2010 Content Count: 2645 Joined: 06/05/07 Status: Offline Share Posted March 14, 2010 TF2 has recently had a few updates, which might possibly be causing performance problems, I know that during intense firefights fps plummets, or if you are blown or killed etc. Other than blaming it on the game, im afraid it could be multiple things - buggy drivers recently downloaded, overheating, faulty hardware.. the list goes on. The Steam Forums have been through this wayyyyyy too many times, tf2's updates don't cause performance issues. I have a little worse specs than him (q6600 2.40, 8800gt) and i just played tf2 today and it ran as fine as it ever does Link to comment

There is NO WAY he would ever need to set his DX to 8.0. He should be able to max every setting on TF2 and still run over 100 fps. Link to comment
