ok so i have an old laptop im using just so i can play old games like kings quest and wolfenstein 3d, well i needed to reformat the HDD...so i stuck in my Windows 98SE Cd and it wont reformat for some reason...well instead i decided well lets use my windows 2000CD and it gives me an error...sad part about this is its compatible with XP and lower so, it wont read my XP CD and then i put my windows 7 CD in and it loads up until a certain point because the laptop isnt 64bit...laptop is presario 1685, yes i know its old...and i cant afford a new one yet so...

Why dont you use your new computer to play those games

you could try using a linux-based disk utility like gparted

If he uses linux than he can't play those games, and virtual box will hinder the performance.

my main desktop i cant support those old games no matter how hard i try and i dont like using that dos box shit, iono im thinking of just taking out the hard drive and reformatting it with my desktop so...

he doesnt have to install linux, just use the gparted livecd version

and yes, you can just take out the hdd, you say old laptop so if its ide, you will need a converter to attach to your desktop

yes, you can play these games on a newer computer. what's wrong with dosbox? they make like pre-packaged ones that you dont have to fuck with any settings any more, it "just works".

u ran the games thru compatibility mode on ur newer comp right? if u didnt u should try cuz i have never had a problem playing older games....not even with vista basic
