Jager Posted May 18, 2010 Content Count: 1300 Joined: 06/24/07 Status: Offline Share Posted May 18, 2010 well corsair has a pretty good warrenty, so i wouldn't be too worried, but test each component separately so you dont fry anything else if one part did get a jolt Link to comment
Harry Posted May 18, 2010 Content Count: 2085 Joined: 04/19/10 Status: Offline Share Posted May 18, 2010 A Thermaltake outliving a Corsair?! What is this, I don't even. All experences I have had with a Thermaltake is that it usually has died before my Corsairs. But good thing Corsair has wonderful warranties usually, Link to comment

tinkerbell Posted May 18, 2010 Content Count: 1662 Joined: 05/16/07 Status: Offline Share Posted May 18, 2010 (edited) no hardware failure, back on my beast, but windows is playing up and one of my hdd's is whining when it spins up, so might need to investigate first, dont want to install windows AGAIN!! well corsair has a pretty good warrenty, so i wouldn't be too worried, but test each component separately so you dont fry anything else if one part did get a jolt made sure nothing else got fried, as soon as it started to smoke, i swithed it off, and took the psu right out of my case and then switched it on with nothing connected, then it went pop Edited May 18, 2010 by tinkerbell Link to comment

I've heard those symptoms once before and it was right before a head crash, there's no recovering from that one. As far as the corsair dying... that's almost unheard of. To be honest it sounds like a true hardware fault, possibly an internal short or a bad cap that slipped through QA. That your computer didnt die from a DC spike is probably a testament to corsair's engineering. Anyway send it in for a warranty, they've got 5years. Link to comment
