I know Corsair kicks ass, but how do other brands compare to Corsair? The other brand I'm considering the most right now is Antec. But how do the less known brands keep up? Coolermaster, Thermaltake, so and so forth...

PC Power and Cooling and Seasonic. Seasonic's kinda special since they're also the OEM for most of the handfull of off-name power supplies that aren't terrible, the few reliable Antecs for example were just repainted Seasonic power supplies.

So if not Corsair, you'd recommend Seasonic (Shadow) or Thermatake (tinker)?

just dont spend £30/$50 on a no-name psu, you want to spend at least double that on a branded PSU depending on the wattage u require

So with a 700W no-name PSU right now running an i7-860 and a 250GTS as well as 3 LED-Fans, two HDDs and a DVD-Drive, should that be my top priority for an upgrade?

Unless you're planning on overclocking with 3 GPUs and 2 millions gigs of ram with an i7 980x 950w is rather unnecessary, even a 750w.

I was gonna say the same

I have the 650W and one of the reviews said he has an i7 oc'ed to 4ghz , 4 hdd and 2 GPU OCed as well if I remember right... running through benchmarking.. it got hot

Obviously thats to much for 24/7 work but it goes to show the PSU can handle it for an extended period of time!!!

I have the non modular version which I love but http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139012&cm_re=corsair_modular-_-17-139-012-_-Product

for 10 bucks more than the 750 you get a nice modular PSU that will handle your components just fine!!
