obviously i know his cpu will not overheat with his stock cooler at stock settings, but i said "overclock that beast" his cpu is shit hot at overclocking, i do know it isnt that good compared to the i7's. his cpu will overclock to over 3GHz as you rightly stated CSS is mostly dependant on his cpu. bare in mind that CSS was released on 2004 and his cpu was released either '06 or '07. he will be able to increase its performance alot by overclocking as for the ram, i think it might be 533, yes it will hinder the performance SLIGHTLY but he does not need to upgrade to 800 ram, 4GB of his OK ram. and as for the 1066 ram, he will be just wasying his money As for the GFX card, the 250 is a "revamped" version of the 8800 series geting a 9800GT will save him a bit of cash an in the mean time be able to overclock that much more than the 8800 series.

ok, $100 on gpu, $40 on new HSF and $60 donation to SG gfx http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814187091 hsf http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134 then overclock that beast the gfx is good enough for what you want it for, you will not be able to play crysis on high settings, but will get a lot better frame rate. the HSF is fucking awesome for the price you pay, and it will cool your cpu to around 28 C. then with the proceesor you have (also depending on the motherboard) be able to overclock that shit to at least 3.1 GHz on air, increasing your frame rate to about 50 fps on max settings at 1024X1080, then you can donate the rest of your cash to SG!!!! Happy Times!!

hmmmm, im really not sure on this one as well, people also forget that it is also dependant on the application it is running, for example, Folding@Home. ATI is pants when it comes to folding while an nvidia card costing say half the price can produce double ppd than the ATI. so to be honest i think i will sit this one out untill they realese there GPGPU's and come up with some real life benchmarks. (but secretly im routing for ATI, they have had a shit time in the past 2-3 years. its about time they pulled something out there ass!!!)

yes....no yes, using wireless is shit for online gaming, lag spikes will occur, but resetting the connection to the wireless router will not solve the problem, use a CAT5 cable. you will not see any lag spikes, if your do then contact your ISP

yes compressing does free upsome space but not that much, and if it is files that you access alot, you will see a significant performance drop if you compress those files. do what was suggested, get an external hdd and keep you music/films/photos on the hdd and keep your internal nice and clean with all your games and stuff a hdd + enclosure cost for a 160Gb ~ £30/$50 maybe less

sometimes when your antivirus doesnt cure the infection but knows of it, and displays the name of the virsu, google it and you can download a fix for it, done it before and work, if you dont know the virus, save all your music/films/documents onto another type of media, then do a fresh install like suggested in other posts, yes i know it is a pain in the backside. but takes like 30 mins to an hour to complete and you dont have to buy a disc, ask around your friends and see if they have a disc with the same version of your OS . eg if you got XP 32bit home, get a XP 32bit home disc and use the product key on the back of your computer or underneth your laptop, and that is still legal 100% as you are still using YOUR product key and not someone elses
