while all of you make valid points, the fact remains that L4D should NOT use that much ram, hence the crashing. the max ive seen it should use under normal circumstances is ~300-500mb. from what i've googled for a friend (still trying to figure out his issues myself) its recommended you update your graphics driver first (try this when you have problems with games first) ^by this i mean, uninstall your current driver, and then install the new one you download another fix recommended is to go into the l4d settings and turn of the multi-core rendering and/or set shaders to medium (and possibly the rest of the video quality) ill keep you posted as i attempt to figure it out for my friend

I love SC. go there every summer for the Outer Banks. Anyway... I'm from Lubbock, Texas (unlike Manhattan, the only one in the world ) Pretty boring here, ~210k people Home of Texas Tech University Home of Buddy Holly (went to the same high school as him) Probably one of the driest, flattest, windiest, dustiest places on the planet. And to expound on how boring it is here: People here only do three things for fun: Go to the movies, Buy stuff (like everywhere else i guess) or, more importantly eat. I say this because it seems to me if you open a restaurant in this city, it will almost certainly do well, thats how much people eat here. In fact, on two separate occasions a major chain of restaurants have closed down but the local chain here did so well they applied for and got the rights to the name and menu.
