I still stand by my suggestion that you get an 18" with a stock. It'll help. No harm in getting one with a stock. And I'm with your mom, I'm getting my shotgun before the elections.

Go try shooting a few dozen rounds with a pistol grip, then go shoot a few dozen with a stock. You'll want the stock. Unless you have schwarzenegger wrists. I tried shooting without using the stock on my 16ga, I can't imagine trying to shoot with a 12ga.
