Sorry, about your luck. Working 80 hours a week is not experience, it's disrespecting and abusing an employee. What I do in those hours can be done in normal work days, but he just wants everything rushed. I'm always the one he goes to if a server dies, because I always say 'Yes'. He knows I have no other plans, so if I tell him 'No', he'll take offense. I'd confront him about making me work overtime, as it's stated in the contract that I'd work from 8-5 and sometimes 6 (currently working 7am to 8pm more or less), but there's not much I can do when he holds my loan over my head he's paid off. Once that yearly contract is up, all bets are off and I'm demanding a hell of a lot more or leaving. Wrong. It was a separate contract I signed after getting hired. But way to make assumptions. Also, employers can fire any employee for any reason, it's usually stipulated in a contract, so I don't know where you get that idea from. I am trying to, but thanks again for making assumptions. You're quickly making yourself out to be a complete tool that tries to know a lot but in reality knows very little. Oh, so you must know that every job I have ever worked at, the paycheck went straight to my dad to help cover bills. You must also know that I worked for my dad for a year for free. So, you must also know that had no savings or income to pay for school. Jesus christ, man, what crawled up your cock and died today? Cool story, bro. I live outside of DC. I came here to rant, not look for pity, but thank you for the kind words. I can say the whole 'You don't know what it was like, man,' but that's not the point of the thread. I feel I was mistreated and mislead. And nice one on wishing death to someone, and yet you lecture me on morality. Pot, meet kettle. My family, fiance, and pet are still 1700 miles away. Myself nor my family had the funds to move be back home. We spent all we had on this one shot and were mislead by the game studio. After the incident, I found out that the position is basically, "Take a bunch of resumes, find the best candidate and hire them for 6 weeks." None of that was known to me when I was offered the position, had I known that I would have rejected the offer. I'm not thankful for the job I have now. My boss has me in a contract until March 2010. He helped pay off a student loan but made me sign a contract for a year. Since then, I've been working about 80+ hours a week, plus weekends, and make just over $30,000/year. Now, my boss knows about the medical bill (not the circumstances behind it) and offered to help pay it off as part of my 'bonus', but I don't want to go that route as I feel there will be more strings attached. I can move back home and get paid at least 1.5x as much as I make here and work a normal work week. I suppose I'm more upset about all of this financial shit hitting me all at once. 1. Student loans 2. Rent increase 3. Utilities increase 4. Other student loans 5. Medical bills. 6. Dad had heart surgery and nearly went bankrupt a few years ago 7. Dad just had eye surgery 8. Dad isn't making much money anymore. 9. Mom got a pay cut and works less hours now. I make under $1900 a month and need to make another $1000 just to break even. Sure, my boss is willing to help out, but it's ruining my relationship with my fiance and family, as well as my personal life. He knows I have no one up here aside from myself, so he uses that to his advantage and overworks me. I can't do shit about it because if I leave, I have to pay back the loan. tl;dr: QQ

The ER visit, sure, but the 3 day stay in the hospital after should be covered. I couldn't care less about the ER bill, that's a few hundred at most. The bill is for being forced to stay there for 72 hours. I'm not going to debate what I did or why I did it. Edit: Actually, I will, so you don't think I'm crazier than I already am. I had landed my dream job at a game studio. I was on cloud nine. I moved away from my family, fiance, and pet for this job. 6 weeks later I was let go because 'I wasn't performing like a rockstar'. This was news to me since I had daily meetings with my boss to make sure I was on track and doing what was needed to be done. He said I was doing great and that things were fine, so this came as quite a shock to me. I went to college for 5 years, graduate school for another 2, was jobless for 8 months until I landed this. Also, since I was feeling so great, I was taking myself off my anti-depression drugs (not a great idea). I just needed to vent. I am so furious about this whole situation. Also, I didn't take nearly enough drugs to kill myself. Realistically, I just wanted to pass the fuck out and not have to deal with the shit for the rest of the day.

What an absolute fantastic way to spend a lunch break, on the phone with the hospital and insurance companies trying to find out why the fuck they are denying my claim. I was in the hospital last year and the bill is just over $5,000. I had 2 insurance companies at the time (individual plan and an employer plan). Both are denying it because it falls under 'mental health' coverage. I was in the ER + 3 day stay for drug overdose (attempted suicide ftl). Regardless of WHY I was in the hospital, they should cover it. This is utter bullshit and I absolutely refuse to pay this bill off in my life time. Now, instead of making myself a lunch I have to drive through McDonalds on the way back to work because I'm out of time. Fuck this shit. Fuck insurance companies. Fuck the hypocrisy of the politicians and medical professionals. Yeah, I got myself into this shit, but one would think that insurance would INSURE an individual. When I was playing speed ball, people were getting super pissed off because at the start, people would blind fire into the air and we'd get hit in the foot or gun and it would be considered a kill. The refs wouldn't stop them from doing it, so we just hid behind the bunkers at the start, even though it wasn't allowed.

There are 2000 people playing. Camping only works if you wear a ghillie suit. There was a guy camping in the woods and was picking off everyone on our team because their commander came up with a plan to funnel us through a single path. We were spraying the shit out of the woods and never hit him. Someone brought binoculars and spotted his arm band (Sadly, we wore green and they wore orange.. not exactly fair). It had to be worn at all times and on the outside of any clothing. Once it was spotted he was lit up by about 50 of us and was screaming for us to stop. A ref came in to stop and he got lit up as well because people were just going batshit insane. Both were furious, but couldn't do anything since 1. The ref went in the line of fire and 2. The camper was picking us off for about 30 minutes and everyone was pissed.

http://www.waynes-world.com/wwopen.html I went to the end-of-year bash in, I think, 2004. It was a 48 hour event with over 2000 players. It was amazingly insane and incredibly fun. I was a medic, so I could rush up to players that were hit and 'heal' them by rubbing the paint off (unless they got hit in the head, which is a kill). People were wearing full camo suits and ghillie suits. The theme was Van Helsing and the goal was to capture artifacts from each other's HQs. Each team had a commander that gave out tasks and laid out plans of attacks. Most people followed his orders, others just went out and shot the shit out of everything that moved. Armored golf carts were tanks with 4 people in them blasting the shit out of everyone. The only way to kill one was to shoot it with a bazooka that had an orange paintball. People had CO2 powered potato gun-style bazookas to shoot the rockets. It was hilarious to hear the *THOOMP* and hear shouts as people annihilate the people hiding behind the tanks. Many bazookas failed and a player would rush the tank with the paintball and throw it (allowed). There was an event at 2am and, given that it's a wooded area, we couldn't see shit. For the past 8 years of the event, night vision goggles were always voted against. This year, the only year my friend didn't bring his, it was allowed. People were running around with spot lights and flood lamps on their backs powered by car batteries. Some people claimed to have setup TV remotes (IR interfere with NV goggles) to blind the guys with NV and sneak into their base. Our group went about 50 feet inside of the woods, completely blind (can't see your hand if you put it on your mask) and saw people shining bright lights, spotted us, and fucking ran. One of my friends there had a tinted mask, which is great for day games, and he tripped and we left him behind before we got raped. Amazing time. People from all over the world were at the event. We met people from Canada, UK, Germany and France. I want to go back but I don't live in Florida anymore. No other paintball event could even come close to their end-of-year bash.
