They usually have to go through hundreds or thousands of interviews before then, so they get strapped for time to meet the April deadline.

Not saying you in particular, just that beating the soviets was the mindset behind whatever progress we made in space was decades ago. We are really far ahead compared to other countries in terms of space exploration. If any real advancement were to be made in that category, yes the private sector would need to have a hand in it. It would cost a lot of money that the government doesn't have. The government still needs to do what it is doing, but the private sector should have more of a role for the time being.

The Cold War is over, so our need to beat the Soviets to wherever they want to go is over. Nowhere else to go right now besides anything near or around earth unless you want to send a few corpses of astronauts to Mars or other sight seeing destinations of our solar system.

BLEHHHH!!!! The Cowboys lost to the Skins. I am disappointed in our defense and our coaching staff. I had no idea why we would play off coverage on a west coast offense. We also gave up the run game way too early. I know I saw some major holes in that Skins defense. The calls in it were craptacular, but that is no excuse for losing the game.
