Hey, when I first got windows 7, one of things I hated about it was that shitty taskbar, it felt like I was using a glob of shit.

So I did a little researching and got it to look like Windows 1 through Vista :d

Heres how:

First - Right click your taskbar and select toolbars, and click new toolbar.

Next, click the new toolbar and enter in this in the Folder blank

%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

like so:

Now you'll notice the Quick Launch bar on your right, you should unlock your taskbar, switch it over to where its usually positioned, right click the Quick Launch text, and remove the Title and Text of it, so it's like normal :p

Next to make the open apps look like they use to in the first screen shots.

Right click your taskbar again, this time click Properties

Now in the 'Taskbar Buttons' select menu click Never Combie, it's also a good idea to make the icons on taskbar small by checking the 'Small Icons' in the window.

This will now make Windows 7, your XP bitch!

Good job, thanks for looking :)

If you need to know anything else just ask.

why in the fuck are you using 7 if you're just gonna do that? use vista ffs. the quick launch bar isnt there by default because its completely unneeded, you can just pin to the taskbar, and click on them, or hit windows key+# (where the number is the order pinned to the start menu, 1-9)

I use a special wireless utility that only works on 7, vista won't work for some odd reason, and no it's not on XP mode.

and windows 7 isnt completely based on the taskbar you twat, some people bought 7 when they had XP so maybe they wanted to retain that feature.

Stopped reading after I realized he was trollling.

Also learn to pin your shit to the taskbar. Or instead of doing all this unnecessary shit, I'll use XP Mode. Hurf durf.

The taskbar, to my understanding, it one of the good features of Windows 7. It's a completely glorious upgrade from that old piece of crap taskbar that Vista and XP uses.

;P Yah, the taskbar is like one of the best new features for W7. Pin whatever the fuck you want to it and still have clear definition between activated programs and pinned programs. The stacking feature is also very nice... Not using it is like wasting part of that 12 dollars... *cough*

well back in XP days, i had my linux kernel replacements for explorer.exe not even show a taskbar, i dont need or want it, its just taking up screen space. and firing up the taskbar fired up explorer.exe so it was pointless to use taskbar related stuff as it was just back to running the less efficient windows file manager kernel.

and depending on how you are using windows or what you are comfortable with it makes sense to customize the UI to your individual liking. its his opinion that he likes quicklaunch, why rip him a new one over it?

if you every troubleshoot pc's for anyone not PC savvy, windows 7 is a massive shift in "relearning" how windows works, most of them dont care about faster cleaner or better, they want what they had as they had it before. My grandfather (at 80) wanted his quicklaunch, he was used to it, so while its not every ones cup of tea, its not a bad tip for those who want that functionality for w/e reason
