Since I'm soooo fucking sick of this problem now, the first person to give a the correct solution to this problem gets a little gift from the Steam store. My problem: Ever since my brother decided to be a smart ass and bring my laptop from my room down to the living room, any hl2, or source game, laggs like hell for me. I use AT&T with DSL, and it used to work flawlessly before he brought it downstairs. Just yesterday I brought it back up, connected my modem back in my room and plugged it to the laptop again, and it's taking forever for me to pull up my favorite list on CS:S, or any HL2. game. Also, once I get ingame, I lag-spike every 2 seconds, so playing is impossible. I checked the obvious reasons, i.e. cables, restarted router, rebooted computer, and so forth. tl;dr, laptop was plugged in to the internet via ethernet to a DSL modem, got brought downstairs with the modem, got brought back upstairs and now any Source game is being a bitch to me. Help me out, get rewarded.

Thanks Jazzyy for trying to defend my point... or trolling.. and thanks to you trakaill, unfortunately i didn't completely understand what the difference between i5 and the AMD built is. But I might attempt to built it myself. With computers booming now, I think it would be a good skill to develop for the future. Quite a few questions though: Confirm for me if I got this right Motherboard - Controls and links all components of a computer, so the better the motherboard, the better the components will... flow? RAM - Allows the computer to handle multiple tasks or a heavy tasks at a time, i.e. you can run several windows of a low or medium-quality game and a window of a high-quality game smoothly, correct? Processor - No idea what it is for, explain here please. Graphic card - Basically the better and the more on-board memory, the more smoothly graphical images and videos will the displayed, and the most important component when it comes to games? PSU - Pretty self explainatory, the more the better, right? Heat sink/Case - Obvious, the colder and the more airflow, the better.

I'd prefer a premade gaming rig for $750 and less, the cheaper the better, obviously. Why premade? I have no fucking idea how to assemble two dozen parts and all the cables and whatnot. Unless there is a website that offers assembling service with it or something, I'd rather prefer to a finished rig. Advice please.

What everyone else said. Attempting to use correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalization also helps. I'd expect someone who's 14 to at least do that. I did it, so can you. /rant In all seriousness, you have to be far more active and prove your maturity. The simple fact that you joined the forum, and without looking for any information on obtaining admin, simply made a thread stating that you want admin proves to me that you are: 1. Impatient 2. Not capable of doing more complex activities, a.k.a not so bright. Stick around, post on the forums, try to befriend a higher-up or two, and don't become the next jigglebelljr.

Oh yeah, alt tabbing out and back in of TF2 works about 25% of the time to fix this. Ima try demoing when I get home. Much love.
