If you have a gun, you are more likely to kill people. You say its to protect people from other guns, but if they weren't legal there wouldn't be any.

 

Look at the UK, gun crime is well, almost non existant but knife crime is quite high, its not hard to make something sharp but hey...better than guns.

The Main Reason For Guns Is To Able To Participate In A Violent Uprising Against The Government Should It Ever Become Corrupt. Our Founding Fathers Saw How Corrupt Their Colonial Power Had Become And They Saw How Useful Guns Were In Defeating That Power And Therefore They Implemented A Gun Rights Clause In The Bill Of Rights, So Futrue Americans Could Defeat Any Tyrant Who Rose To Power.
