Second your wrong the 7300GT VS 9800GT is actually a big enough power difference to create problems.. The said computer though was build a year ago is like a few years behind mine thats already 2 years old and bough it outdated..so basically it is crap..upgrading it will probably be hard. As mentioned Bios upgrade might be possible but I have doubts. Slapping a 260 with the shit cpu and im guessing shit ram wont take you far...plus the 260 wont work cause the psu prolly sucks..bottom line bad idea.. Im guessing the comp was a prebuilt...imagine the kind of mobo/psu that was used..my dellcomp came with a 320W psu... If your capped at 200 save some money and build one next year...I these 200-300 bucks will be like flushing it down the toilet cause it wont be enough to make a real difference that will last a decent amount of time If you buy an 9800 you will need a new psu..and that upgrade wont do much unless you upgrade the cpu. Im guessing the whole thing is pretty slow you might need more ram

I say that cause of core speed and cache..3.16GHz on the E8500 with 6MB L2 cache and 3.00GHz on the E8400 with 6MB L2 cache... the Q9400 runs at 2.66 also with 6MB L2 cache Now Im not a computer genius so shadowx or someone else can explain exactly what CPU cache is or to wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU_cache but apparently the difference between 4 and 6 is noticeably different..so that is why I though the small amount of money was worth it imho.. Now shadow needs to come in here and comment on all this.. All these dont exceed 10 feet (3m)..you wont be doing much scuba diving with that...Ive gone down to 25-30 feet (7-10m) free diving...my max was 60 feet (20m) with tanks cause the regs in france are a lot stricter than the US... GL finding something in the price range

Id upgrade the cpu to an Q9400..its 189 for a significant performance upgrade..or an E8500 they both OC nicely but even if you dont they are fast!! Antec 900 is cheap right now..Id look at cool master cases as well. Also Id invest into a cpu heatsink rather than a gpu..or both ... Maybeupgrade the PSU to 550 if you want to go nVidia..

My dell works fine... The only advantage of custom building is price..if I could put in a dell the same thing I can buy on new egg I would for warranty and all that shit.. and having professional backup... Ill haventupdated yet btw not had time hence why I will build my next and not buy a dell And yes the mother board locks suck..Im actually afraid of buying a new cpu cause I read the mobo will sometimes give you trouble with dell computers...Ive been thinking of upgrading from my E6550 to an E8500 or a Q9400..dunno yet..I might just wait another year and build a whole new one next summer with an i7...

you keep on using XP...while most of normal people with +3GB's of ram will enjoy vista... I will try to update my dell inspiron tonight to see if it works for me.. And I belive the GPU could affect the authentication because dell has some weird shit were I guess the PC isnt the same that was delivered so to speak so it does that..

Well Im not a advanced user myself but I have a few friends that are..and since vista SP1 has been around the feedbacks I got from them is that it was as good as XP if not better to works with...now most users arent at that level anyway!!! Furthermore this whole argument is completely invalid since 10/22 since windows 7 came out and it's prolly what you should get....

Why the hell not?? Vista is awesome..especially with 8 GB of ram... If you dont wanna build..yes get this..you have a little money left for a GTX 260..or if you wanna go a little cheaper you might be able to find a radeon 4870

qf fucking t!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I complained about this a few month back..administration pretended to do something and then went right back to what I was complaining about till is was to fucking annoying to play on SG servers as a player cause you couldnt do anything without being harassed and as an admin cause you can do anything without getting some lame complaint. just so you know.. you get really shitty parts in prebuilts..they give you minimum power...so you'll have to change GPU, and PSU...and you CPU will be poorly cooled so your gonna have to add that..that is if you go with dell or hp at least go to a website where you can customize the thing.. ibuypower or what ever..
