yeah the cpu does not matter a whole lot in modern games and you could always overclock if you have lag issues.

Ok this may not be the place to ask but its worth a shot. I have a 1980 Marantz SR 8000 stereo receiver that worked before it was put into storage (replaced by 5.1 surround unit.) Now after a few years i have tried to use it again. There is no audible sound coming through the speakers. The digital display works, the pre-amp works as its radio works when output through my other receiver, and when at full volume very quit sound can be heard through really sensitive headphones. As far as i can tell the pre-amp is fine but both channels have no sound and the headphone out is virtually silent. Does anybody know what would kill both amp channels at once while the thing was in storage and how it can be fixed. Or if you can point me in the direction of help, that would be nice too. I really hope i can get this thing working as it was a super high end system new and would be a cool receiver to use now.

i got lucky and found a 750watt psu for $75. has given me no problems and works fine even with dual gpu. unfortunately it was the last one comp usa had and they have not been in stock since. i dont think its made anymore.

gaming laptops are all awful because you cant really use them on the go because the batter last two minutes they are heavy and you can cook on them. Then when you get home they are not as good for gaming because the keyboard is fixed to the monitor and its all not very ergonomic. To fix this you can get a ps2 keyboard and monitor but then you may as well have a desktop and at least that would be upgradeable and have a graphics card that works with all the drivers and not just the ones they use for mobile chips.

yeah your best bet is to keep the disk drive but even that is probably worthless at this point. you could use the hdd if you really want but its probably horribly outdated. usb bracket perhaps?

they just came out with a new version of the lachesis with 5600 DPI. I personaly love my older lachesis.

oh wait sorry i did not notice the 15 inch requirement. I was going to suggest the new m11x. i have use one and it is really quite impressive. Unfortunately its only got an 11 inch screen and the other alienwares are huge with low battery life.

I personally chose intel because at the time the amd chips were slower. With intel you also have a larger range of mobos to choose from. I love my q9450 but i know people who use amd and are quite happy. Buy a system that fits your needs and budget and it really does not matter what brand name is on the cpu.
