  1. CRT input level.

What is the appropriate input level for a crt monitor (.7v or 1.0v)?
  2. Razer Lachesis or Mamba. the mamba is wireless or wired. the Lachesis is better though.
  3. last time I used Norton we got viruses and massive slowdowns. I use AVG and keep multiple system backup in case of virus.
  4. What he said. though you could also go to your card manufacturers(evga, xfx...) website if you like (no idea why). Make sure you delete any existing ones first.
  5. now you see that just goes to show how rumors get spread. Somewhere along the line someone said it was hundred and now news of this is spreading everywhere. Im gona trust the admin on this one.
  6. High end CRT

Does anyone know what high end CRT models are still being made? Apparently I am one of the few people who still prefer the look and performance of a big ass crt to an LCD monitor.
  7. physx

I am running two cards in SLI mode so they are both being used for 3d rendering but one is also taking on the task of physx. The SLI still scales about 95% even when the Physx is in use. One card can handle 3d rendering and Physx.
  8. if thats the case im a shoe in because 90% of the time im on there are no admins to be found. Im thinking its more than that though.
  9. physx

you know you dont need two cards to run physx it just helps take the load off the main card.
  10. physx

What card do you have? I may be possible to find modified drivers for it.
  11. Game Soundtracks

my last post clipped this off.

  13. about that Lachesis I can back him on this. I love my Lachesis, no complaints and the thing is just plain flawless. There are mice that will get the job done for less money though.
  14. I love how the most reliable and one of the best mice I have ever used is an early Logitech optic mouse. Cost around $15 and still works fine 8 years latter. You dont need to spend a bunch on a mouse ( yes I did but you dont ). If you do have problems like those described, its probably a lost cause though you could try cleaning it up a bit if you dont want to give up on it yet.
  15. physx

I dont think Nvidia wants you to.
  16. I miss having admin. Back in the early days of cs:s, (that would be 2005) I was an admin. Now every time someone asks for someone to kick a "freekiller" i hit the button to open the admin menu and... well it dont work.
  17. so this rules out using the mostly invisible Predator skins right.
  18. From what you said it simply did not respond to your inputs and went to a dead end screen. It may not have POSTed but it may have. The problems I described prevented me from accessing the BIOS at all. However, the fact that it did not boot off the flash drive means the first option is mostly rules out. But, yes, the game disk in the drive did keep the BIOS from responding, I assume you have ruled that out though.
  19. Just to be safe, you did make sure there are no discs in the optical drive right? Had someone think a PC was bricked recently when a game disc left in the drive was being picked up by the bios. Yeah that will cause this problem every time.
  20. Yeah, try resetting the CMOS but it sounds to me like attempting to boot with a different OS or the windows disc is worth a shot. I have had similar things happen when the system hung on an update (it should never take 12 hours to update). Running it off the disc worked fine to undo the damage. You could also try installing something like Ubuntu on a flash drive and trying to boot to that. If it boots with any other OS its most likely not hardware failure.
  21. Audio System?

Just got a pair of Grado Labs SR80i headphones. Im still breaking them in (and will be for the next 100 hours of use) but I can tell you right now they sound amazing. Now I would not recommend them for purely gaming or movies because there are better headphones for producing a sense of space but for music (no not that all-bass techno from hell) especially rock or even classical, its hard to go wrong. The only problem is that you will have a hard time finding them in retail stores for the most part. You may have to seek out your local audio-store or Amazon where they are under $100. On one last note you will most defiantly not want to use these on an airplane as the person next to you will not take kindly to it seeing as they are entirely open and could almost be used as speakers.
  22. You need a new card.
  23. Ubuntu 10

    good OS though
  24. Ubuntu 10

yeah I would run a Ubuntu install but right now its only on a 9.5 GB 10k Cheetah scsi hard drive and Im afraid its gona burn down my house. (already melted an ide belt and burnt my hand)
  25. Audio System?

Post your audio systems and, if you like, recommend something you think really makes the music sound better.
