Well I am reporting MHHMMMMHMMMM, (thats mission success for you non Pyros) I am pleased to announce that our TF2 24/7 Control point server is Operational. We are currently running cp_warpath, and cp_orange_420_final. Thanks to those of you who helped me test it in various stages of completeness, and those of you who are already playing on it as I speak. The server is considered fully live, and we are accepting suggestions for a few more interesting and balanced Control Point maps to add to the nomination list. I am happy to explain more in a pm, but any public discussion simply aids anyone who is trying to wreck the servers/circumvent the various controls we use to maintain proper game play etc. if you want to backup then delete your config.cfg or autoexec.cfg in your cstrike folder that may help in non sg servers if you are still having issues there. all of the dedi's will be shut down for maintenance tonight which will probably fix the cached sprays being seen as well, try using your spray outside of sg servers and tell me if you have the same issue, i can trouble shoot that a lot easier tbh since I am loathe to reverse security settings on a SG server even temporarily for a spray issue.

no it wasnt posted, its basically telling anyone who is trying to exploit a security hole in our servers what we fixed and why. if you are seeing other sprays idk what to tell you tbh, they do not have access to upload anything anymore. scripts, sprays, etc all are ignored by the server now. if you have their spray cached as a client you may still see it, but the server is ignoring it. pm on what servers you are on and ill take another look, but sprays dont work and wont work until certain issues are fixed within the addons we use. it is a security precaution that the board agrees is more important then having access to sprays for now

finzz if they already had their spray uploaded when I turned off that setting the server cached the image until it was shutdown. your client also cached their image so it required less bandwidth to handle spray info. no sprays will work on any SG server except the default ones for now.

sprays do not work currently, the server upload from clients has been turned off, due to people abusing them to upload admin breaking scripts/hacks. this is not likely to change until we get better updates and bug fixes for our support programs.

if you have him set rate limits of upload download, he wont lag your net out, depending on your connection that is generally 10-15kb/s upload and 50-100kb/s dl, the dl isn't nearly as important as the upload to be honest.

its not entrapment, you agree to abide by our rules on our servers, if you break those rules and no one catches you, you are still breaking the rules and an idiot, an admin catching you just means you get to add punishment to your high crime of douchebaggery. its not like we are rule nazi's or somehow have impossible to follow rules either.

the bios controls how many active cores you have running, anything in software does not physically stop the actual core working, so you shouldn't have "broken" anything, but your bios will have an option to turn on or off the cores. swap that and you should be fine.

the official rule is that if an admin is undercover, and is for the purpose of demoing or catching a rule breaker, that other admins are NOT to reveal that person. Many admins choose to play with different names in order to not be bothered by random requests or bitching, as long as you don't see them use admin powers, leave them be. if you want to talk to them and ask, use admin chat. abuse of ma_admins is something we frown upon. cumulative issues lead to bad reputation, and a much reduced chance of being promoted by your peers at the minimum. If you are not wearing your tag, and are using admin powers and are not an AO or above, then you will receive a strike unless good reason is given. AO+ are exempt from this rule until otherwise noted.

well back in XP days, i had my linux kernel replacements for explorer.exe not even show a taskbar, i dont need or want it, its just taking up screen space. and firing up the taskbar fired up explorer.exe so it was pointless to use taskbar related stuff as it was just back to running the less efficient windows file manager kernel. and depending on how you are using windows or what you are comfortable with it makes sense to customize the UI to your individual liking. its his opinion that he likes quicklaunch, why rip him a new one over it? if you every troubleshoot pc's for anyone not PC savvy, windows 7 is a massive shift in "relearning" how windows works, most of them dont care about faster cleaner or better, they want what they had as they had it before. My grandfather (at 80) wanted his quicklaunch, he was used to it, so while its not every ones cup of tea, its not a bad tip for those who want that functionality for w/e reason

you can not bridge a connection without a set of 2 wired Ethernet cards, one to take the data in, the other to act as the "bridge" and send data out. unless the ps3 has 2 Ethernet ports, its not going to be possible to do so easily. you can try to do a wireless to wired bridge but if the ps3 functionality isnt there, there isnt a way to add it. its easier to a buy the wireless pci card or usb adapter. or if the cable run is shorter, buy cat 5 Ethernet cable and simple hard wire your pc to the router. your network throughput will go up. (54megs-100megs a sec is fastest wireless gets wired is well over 100 megs theoretical on old old tech. gigabit ethernet is closer to 1 gig or more network bandwidth) if you can hard wire your pc you will have the most stability and fastest speeds possible, but grabbing an Ethernet usb or pci adapter from fry's/bestbuy/walmart isn't that expensive most are 20 bucks to 30. if you must work with wireless, get 802.11 G or N compatible (n is better then g) you will be safe from needing to upgrade, and both are backwards compatible if your router cannot use G or N (would be wireless B if it cant do G) G is ubiquitous these days.
