  1. Oh yeah the Alex Jones thing at least. He still getting sued to this day for that So I should cancel my tinfoil hat order I sent out for you? Kids on meds is a harder convo forreal. No need to make a thread on it.
  2. You know I hate your anti-psych med rhetoric because 95% of the time it's what is best for someone suffering anything beyond low level anxiety or depression, but where you really lost me is the CIA part. This a conspiracy I don't know about?
  3. Quick info for those actually trying to argue this...
  4. Don't flame me but idk what canes is and never had wing stop. That being said, olive garden fucking blows.
  5. Literally everyone here, myself included, have little to no understanding of full legislative law, the scope of the house & congress in the matter, nor the full understanding of what is considered infringement of the 2nd amendment or not. Fact is most of America has a very basic understanding on a slew of issues on both sides and we vote in people who say they will support XYZ issue and hope they know enough or know people that know enough to move that issue in the direction we want. Entire thread is full of huge assumptions on how the government operates, would operate, & legislates as a whole so idk why we really gotta bring up who and who doesn't own a gun. I don't own a gun and am for being able to legally own pretty much as many guns as I please and acquire them in a timely and reasonable manner. Is my opinion not going to get weighed the same because of my supposed 'lack of subject knowledge' or is it only people talking from the deep left?
  6. The @BoMft. @Mannyv @kabLeportion of this thread has concluded via private debate. Please look to the main showing @Gentoov @jazzy for further entertainment.
  7. I'm supporting exploring it is as a viable option to the solution rather than dismissing it. quite simply. It's nothing to be cautious about as all...your sentiment is just more worrying about what ifs instead of just opening lines of communication. Again, was just spitballing. Even with all this generalized information it still would clearly be an okay place to start as a basis for a solution as there is already some groundwork set.
  8. Sure but I'd still rather weigh reality over hypotheticals...maybe that's a crazy sentiment. Nothing to do with thinking the government isn't capable of corruption, I'm just being pragmatic and worrying about the problem that is in front of me not the one that might happen. I'm not a public health official nor educated enough on the specifics of any review, nor am I aware of a source of information that would define that now as the discussions on the subject have never even gotten into any validated legislation. Apply parts of what a police officer goes through in terms of a psych eval? Just spitballing
  9. Excuse me sir you dropped this: Sidenote: Mental health checks would be more akin to having a psych review prior to purchasing a gun, so it would really only discourage people from getting a gun based on wanting to avoid having a pysch review. It wouldn't discourage anyone seeking treatment outside of that.
  10. Uhhhh Updated statistics as of May 31, 2022 (specifically high-income countries) (Source: https://www.healthdata.org/acting-data/gun-violence-united-states-outlier) Confirming above data and comparing to Canada/Europe/Oceanic folk (Source: https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/gun-deaths-by-country) Comparative knife crime statistics in UK: (total crimes) (Source: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-42749089) Let me know if you need help reading the charts since you apparently can't be bothered to look shit up yourself.
  11. bro he didn't even see it coming
  12. So we're just making up ranks now?
  13. @lynxieDoing gods work
  14. Well this thread is just all over the place. Maybe we need a new thread specifically talking about gun laws and such. Should go well...
  15. Poor lynxie just wanted to send some thoughts and prayers...
  16. Most, if not all of this that you've referenced is in relation to depression, anxiety, ADHD...as are any discussions of over medication and the like. However, when it comes to the rougher conditions like bi-polar, schizophrenia, or a slew of personality disorders you really can't and SHOULDN'T be out there advocating against meds. Just want that to be clear.
  17. Nah this is retarded. I'm sorry if you or a family member got fucked by a poor choice by a medical professional, but the drug industry is not tied into any level of over-prescribing you might view. We have like 2 or 3 people I know of in the community who struggle to even get any drug prescribed to them when they have legitimate issues that require meds. Maybe its fucked in the 2nd rate state you live in, but here this literally is a non-issue in regards to psych meds...so you really gotta be careful with this rhetoric...or do a lot more research.
  18. If your rhetoric is pushing against meds for proper mental healthcare I might have to actually be serious with you for a minute. Please clarify.
  19. I'm still picking through a lot of this VERY SPICY thread, but I think this is super unfair to associate that picture to the average. Honestly I'd put them at the bottom 20%, which is where I put people both leaning heavily on their (likely excessive) gun ownership AND horribly misusing their guns. Many Americans are very publicly quiet about their gun ownership, practice and teach their family proper gun handling, and only use their guns in acts of defense or hunting. I think it's important to understand who and what you're talking about and not just try and insult the entirety of gun owners as their are A LOT of different scenarios. 'Gun ownership is more common among men than women, and white men are particularly likely to be gun owners. Among those who live in rural areas, 46% say they are gun owners, compared with 28% of those who live in the suburbs and 19% in urban areas. There are also significant differences across parties, with Republican and Republican-leaning independents more than twice as likely as Democrats and those who lean Democratic to say they own a gun (44% vs. 20%). For many adults who own guns, exposure to guns happened at an early age. About two-thirds of current gun owners (67%) say there were guns in their household growing up, and 76% report that they first fired a gun before they were 18. While non-gun owners are less likely to have grown up in a gun-owning household, a substantial share (40%) say this is the case, and about six-in-ten (61%) say they have fired a gun. Most gun owners cite multiple reasons for owning a gun. In fact, eight-in-ten say they have more than one reason for owning, and 44% have more than one major reason. Still, protection tops the list, with 67% of current gun owners saying this is a major reason they personally own a gun. About four-in-ten say the same about hunting (38%), while three-in-ten say sport shooting, including target, trap and skeet shooting is a major reason they own a gun. Fewer cite a gun collection (13%) or their job (8%) as major reasons for owning a gun.' Now if you want to get into maybe specifically AR-15 owners or just people who own 1 or more semi-auto rifles, I'm more than welcome to debate you *might* be hitting closer to the truth. I saw you say something about Finland having a better spread, but if you factor in all the types of gun owners (single handgun, shotgun for home defense, etc etc etc) we have, many of which will stand up for their gun rights as adamantly as the 4x AR-15 owner, I think you'll find you don't really have a specific cross section of America anymore. 'Two-thirds of gun owners say they own more than one gun, including 29% who own five or more guns. About seven-in-ten say they own a handgun or pistol (72%), while 62% own a rifle and 54% own a shotgun. Among those who own a single gun, most (62%) say that gun is a handgun or pistol, while far fewer say they own a rifle (22%) or a shotgun (16%).'
