  1. I'm gonna look into adding some Christmas maps to metal and my's L4D2 server. Or at the very least some winter maps. If anyone has any specific maps in mind let me know.
  2. All I see in that thread is @Spartan shooting down your points, and you giving up, telling Bread you tried. The thread ultimately turned into @Metal saying he was going to edit some things to it, and he just said ITT that it wouldn't work like he was wanting.
  3. So could you at least provide a legitimate reason to keep the map?
  4. SG Quotes

    Hey bread
  5. Honestly, I feel @Metal and myself have two slightly different ideas of what this server could possibly be, but both work together nonetheless. Metal is using it simply to have our own server to do our community events on. I hold onto the slight chance of us possibly gaining even just one new member from it. Is it probably going to happen? Nah. I'd be willing to wager the odds of gaining a new community member from this are slim to none. However, who knows? Maybe we do, maybe we don't. We also might have someone that joins the community through CSGO, see this server and go "hey, I like l4d2 too. Let me get more involved with this community." Still not very likely to happen, but still. At the end of the day, its about the freedom and liberty. Even if we don't get any new players out of it (which we probably won't), it still allows us to work on and customize the server to our exact wants and needs. As I said, I'm going to enjoy just working on it and learning a little more about servers and how they work, on top of the enjoyment from just playing on it. Just don't see the big fuss people are causing ITT. Basically boils down to, Metal and I are going to open our own l4d2 server for the community, who's interested in playing on it?
  6. SG Quotes

No. You can never top the classic and greatest "Hey Bread".
  7. SG Quotes

Yes please. Let's not encourage that stupid shit. Also you missed the two best quotes. "No" -Retro And "Hey @Bread" -Retro
  8. @SpikedRocker I'll still record when I play with you just in case. Who knows, something might happen where a second perspective would be nice. Better safe than sorry ya know?
  9. I could try to use open source broadcasting to record my screen, and audacity to record my isolated audio and send them to you if you want, @SpikedRocker Down for L4D2; Rocket League; CS:GO; KTANE.
  10. @XeNo the initial point of the thread was to see how much interest we could gather if we do make our own, and to get suggestions. Initially the cost was going to look double what we are now expecting to pay. I was looking for feedback on if people would be interested in playing, as well as getting suggestions. Since I originally posted the thread, the payment issue has been resolved, with both Metal and myself willing to split the $60 for 6 months. If we get the server going, and people do wish to donate a few bucks towards another 6 months (if we make it that far) they are welcome to. But as of right now, we have the paying step taken care of. I will update the OP to clarify that. Now, it is mostly a matter of overall interest. It would be another week before we start the actual setting up process, so Metal and myself will gauge responses in this thread, as well as at the next event this coming Friday. I am glad to hear that we do have the okay to use the group name on the server, and as Metal and myself are both SAs and have been apart of the community for years now, I believe we won't have any negative feedback coming onto the community as we know what is expected of us representing the community and know how to handle a server.
  11. Here's the thing. I'm not worried about spending $30 on the server. To me, I'll get my $30's worth just working on it. It gives us a 6 month trial period to see how well the server will work. Let's us see if there's enough interest to slightly expand our community outside of just CSGO. I don't expect the server to be something like PB or ZE where it's populated 24/7. But it gives us more freedom. It will make hosting events 100x easier in that we have a server that we can tailor to how we want to play. The whole not being kicked for small things like rushing or swearing, is only a perk. If we want to add a buy menu to the game, we can. We can also tailor that more to our liking. Which means tanks will won't be useless due to just reviving yourself. If we want to add any other feature, we can. Or if we want to switch to vanilla, we can do that as well. Yes, there's servers out there already. But I think I speak for myself, @Metal and a few others when I say I'd rather not rely on other people's servers to host our events. Even if 6 months from now, we let the server expire and move on, $30 isn't much to just give it a chance. We're basically paying $5 a month to see how this idea will work. And who knows, if things work out well, we might be able to discuss getting it added to our official servers, although I have little to no hope that will happen. At the end of it all, this is something Metal and I are willing to spend $30 each on, and is something we both think is worth the trial. Worse case scenario, 6 months later, we don't renew and we move on. Like I said, I'll get my $30's worth of entertainment and fun just setting the server up and seeing how well it will work. Just because you don't think a trial run of 6 months is worth $60 (split between 2 people nonetheless), doesn't mean we don't think it is. You're 10 years older than me, and 8 years older than Metal. It's not like we're talking about a 16 year old trying to buy and run a tf2 server on his own (rip Goku's summer 2012). I already said I'm going into this with minimal expectations. If it doesn't work, we tried. If it does, then hooray.
  12. Plus @Console will get to keep his name
  13. For $68, I think a 6 month trial would be worth it. Metal and myself will need to be sure to try to get events or tournaments setup to help keep it worthwhile. I had worked on a CSS and TF2 server in the past and enjoyed it so hopefully there's enough interest for a L4D2 server. I think I'd enjoy just working on the thing a bit on top of actually playing on it.
  14. @Wawa suggested, using NFOServers. Me and @Metal talked about it, and we are thinking of going with that option would only be $68 for 6 months. We're gonna do a little more research into it, and seeing how much interest there is.
  15. So @Metal has been putting togther some L4D2 community events, and @Console had the suggestion of having our own server. As said there, it would have to be one that we setup on our own. So with that, I wanted to make this separate thread to add a poll, and discuss the possibility of doing just that. So I have come across a few options that would probably be easiest, and best for our situation. Option 1: Buygamingservers.com Price- 99 cents (USD)/slot. Slots- 10-64 Payment: Monthly, Quarterly 5% discount, Semiannually 10% discount, Annually 15% disccount Features: So if we go with say 16 20 slots, we'd be looking at $15.84 $19.80 monthly ($190 $237/yr), $45.15 $56.43 quarterly ($180 $220/yr), $85.54 $106.92 semiannually ($171 $213/yr) or $161.57 $201 annually. Option 2: Gameservers.com Price- $1.99/slot (public), $1.49/slot (private) Slots: Only offers 8 slots Payment: Monthly (15.95/mo $191.yr), Quarterly (45.46/every 3 mo $181/yr), Semiannually (86.13/2 mo $172/yr) Annually (162/yr) Features:Basically the same (I used gameservers few years back to run a css and tf2 server) There are a few other game hosting sites, but the two I listed are the ones that I just decided to run with as the options. If anyone has any better ideas feel free to mention them. So now the questions of whether or not there is enough interest to bother setting this up. I had worked with gameservers in the past, and I assume if we use option 1, it would work very similar. As such, I'd be willing to help set things up and try to maintain it. If there's anyone else interested that could help, then so be it, I'll take the help. The actual setting up process should be relativity easy. No matter which option we use, both offer instant setup and then allow us to go in and customize on top of that. The next question would be the paying. I would rather not do monthly, or quarterly. I also don't know if we should commit to a full year, so I think semi-annual might be the best option for us. The next question is how to go about paying for it. I'm open to suggestions on this topic. Metal and myself will take care of the initial payment, and will bother with the second when the time comes after 6 months. The reason for the strikethroughs when discussing slots for option 1, was because I had originally went with 16, but metal suggested 20 so I adjusted while still showing the 16 slot prices. Basically, I just want to see how much interest is in this before moving forward with it, as well as get some more suggestions. Edit: Barring any better suggestions, we will be going with NFOServers, which is apparently what we use for CSGO. It will run us about $68 for 6 months, and Metal and I are both more than willing to split that cost to see how this might work out. If there's interest, we'll give it a shot. We have a few ideas for some events and a possible versus tournament. Edit 2: Struck through the options and payment sections. We will be going with NFOServers if we follow through with this, which is a decent possibility. For the payment, we have taken care of the initial 6 months, and will worry about the later 6 months if needed later on. At this point this thread is mainly in case anyone happens to have any other ideas prior to opening one, and to see how much interest there is in our own l4d2 server.
  16. I think it would be something worth tabling for now. At this moment, it probably wouldn't be worth the time and effort. It would just be more work to get it setup, then decide what rules and how to go about admin'ing it. I think if we establish a L4D2 playerbase within the community, that would be strong enough to make the server worthwhile, then we could consider opening one. But I think right now CSGO is the top priority for the community.
  17. At work atm. Really looking forward to this when I get off.
  18. Btw, let me just say some of you fucks better be on when Son Drunku arrives. Going to be a little disappointed no one is still playing that night (around 11:30-midnight EST)
  19. Just my thoughts, but that color seems too dark.
  20. Phonicz pls
  21. Edit: Also the OP says "What are your favorite teams"
  22. Now you're just speaking nonsense. Football and soccer are not the same thing. Silly cappn.
  23. My apologies. If you wanted to talk about soccer, then you should have just said so. Why name the thread football? Now you're just trying to confuse people. Please call things by their proper name.
  24. National Football League
