Listen I think this post was funny and had some weight, but I don't want it to look like I'm taking jmc's side on this 100% because I don't approve of his approach here and I think a lot of his accusations are hearsay and unfounded claims. This reeks of a similar post Lynxie made a few months ago about TTT where he just opened fire on anyone related to SG and took the aggressive asshole approach to the point where it lost any respect for discussion the validity of his points might've had. I meant deflection in the way of pretending they hold no responsibility rather than ignoring the issues, which is absolutely what's going on here.

There is a fine line between trolling and poking fun. Many of the most infamous regs in SG history were the tight rope walkers of this fence. Maybe it just comes natural to me, but I can definitely tell when someone is trolling to piss people off or poking fun for the sake of creating a funny and casual environment. I don't care what anyone says, intentions matter. There's no way y'all can tell me you read this whole thread and don't see a difference between trolls and people who poke fun for shits and giggles. I'm not saying "just ban the trolls and gaming community will come back to life!" I'm saying deliver punishments based on regulars with unusually negative general opinions through an anonymous send in voting system (where voters are visible to the higher ups to prevent fraud/bot spamming). It doesn't have to be win contest straight to perm, it could be win contest -> get a warning, continue winning asshole contest -> mute, then temp ban, then perm. Not to mention "Be the change you want to see" is such a grade school approach with such a fundamental difference to the real world; this quote makes perfect sense in the real world where you're essentially forced to be around people you don't like all the time at work, school, etc. The difference between IRL and TTT? If you don't like the people in TTT, you just get bored and fucking leave and never come back. No one will willingly grow tolerant if they don't have to, especially if other servers are alive and ripe to be the next alternative. There are tons of regulars who put forth an active effort to be a beacon of good attitude and you know what? They get drowned out by the pure sadism of the server killers every single goddamn time. It only takes one friend in a group of people playing a server leaving after a server killer fucks with them to start a domino effect of the whole group leaving. It only takes one band kid meme lord to clog chat/VC with unfunny haphazard diarrhea chimed into every conversation to make a server unplayable. It only takes one dipshit to bait a genuine regular/staff member into breaking a rule on camera and getting them punished. I don't see why we shouldn't start pulling weeds while the servers are in a dire state. Worst case scenario, we have less retards. No one who the majority doesn't want gone will get punished by this system as long as the ones in charge do their job right. To me, that's the best part; innocents and generally beloved players would have nothing to worry about after this implementation. Don't wanna end up on the naughty list? Take the stick out of your ass to start.

The game is not the issue. The server environment is making people leave, not other games pulling players. What about when PUBG and Fortnite erupted in late 2018? That was arguably the biggest extinction event for most other long standing popular games, and our servers didn't die then. I'm not saying to stop trying, but every attempt at digging our feet in the sand of other games has consistently failed. If we can't even keep a stable population in our main game (where popularity of the game isn't the issue) then how can we expect ourselves to gain a foothold in another one? I know you haven't played on the same server in the same lobby as me since the stone age, but not only is this not a preferred solution to me anymore, it's not a viable one either. Last person who was genuinely hardcore bullied off the server for being a little shit was oDriips- like two fucking years ago. Most of these kids have evolved to advanced dick riding techniques to hide behind staff members who are never around on the servers to see how much fun they suck from the servers, not to mention what kabLe pointed out that most of the tactics used to actually, like for real out-edge the people you don't like are now bannable offenses. At the end of the day, this isn't a company that's publicly traded on the stock market. It's just like when a [REDACTED] surrounding discord server of SG members was raided by the staff members of this network and the higher ups claimed "out of our jurisdiction"; like what? This isn't "out of your jurisdiction", it's a private company and you guys can do whatever the hell you want. If they see something they don't like, they have the power to change it no questions asked as long as (I'd hope) their own morals apply. Would they let a known serial killer play Jailbreak just because the bad thing he did wasn't on the servers and therefore "out of their jurisdiction"? Like it just doesn't make sense to me. They have the power to ban who they want, when they want, and for whatever reason they want. As far as I'm concerned the only issue here is discerning how we create a mostly objective system to decipher who kills servers and who everyone doesn't want around. I'm still hoping for an anonymous send-in thing to the higher ups who can put restrictions on those who get the most negative opinions from the general public. I'm not stupid, I understand they want to keep this banner of inclusivity because it's good for partnerships and stuff, but at this point it's to the detriment of the servers and the writings on the wall.

Ok, fair enough if you guys don't think this will work. So what, we just continue to do nothing? To me that's not an option.

This is not a shitpost. I'm aware this is an outlandish and controversial take. The servers are in a critical state as of now. It is no secret. The three main servers are at all time lows. ZE is dead, TTT has been on life support for months, and JB is on its way to the same state. This is despite the best efforts of the managers behind them, which leads me to believe this is nothing to do with the content/balance of the servers and everything to do with the regulars. I am not alone in this conclusion, as many of my comments and the comments of other regulars outling this as the main issue seem to attract mass agreeance. At its core, the problem with the servers is annoying, unpleasant, server killing, whatever you wanna call them, bad regulars. For the sake of argument, I define these regulars by those who choose to actively be asinine in behavior and act in a way that makes the server unfun and generally pushes boundaries in areas such as micspam/RDM/delaying/freekilling/enforcing, but rarely ever far enough to warrant a ban in black and white rules and especially in a way that the rest of the server finds unpleasant, not funny, and vibe dragging. Fuck man I know it's a loose definition but this is such a gray area because there are some regs who do this in a way that's not to the detriment of the server and more to the fun side, but again this is not black and white. To be honest, I have no idea how to approach solving this problem in a way that doesn't incite a riot. But, I propose some kind of foolproof fraud preventative voting system through the forums that keeps voters anonymous to everyone except the higherups to vote to permanently (or temporarily) ban some of the main offenders of being generally unlikable and dragging down the server environment. I know this is a ridiculous idea at first glance, but I'm genuinely sick and tired of what was once one of my favorite past time always being dead and/or half filled with people literally no one who has a foot hold in this community likes to be around or respects. I'm aware people are never going to like everybody, people are always gonna hate some people and like others. There is no objective way of saying who's a bad reg and who's not, but much like any other subjective medium, such as food, there's definitely a way to distinguish a grilled cheese from a pile of dogshit. I'm also aware that it's entirely possible I'm one of the few who would be voted off because I generally get bipolar opinions across the community, but at this point I don't care and I at least wanna try to fix this. I'm not gonna name any of the main offenders in public; I think most people know who I'm referring to in this post. However much like before, I'm open to any higher up who wants specifics and they can feel free to DM me to get that information. Once again, I'm aware this is a beyond extreme solution. I know a lot of people are gonna read this and genuinely think I'm on benadryl and am completely retarded, but I don't care. I feel like extreme measures are what need to be taken to bring the servers back to their former glory.
