  1. The main problem is there will never truly BE a iPad killer, all of Apple's products are extremely successful due to amazing hyping done by Apple, coupled with alright hardware to boot. They are sort of innovative in their own way. The reason you see Mac's have such a low os stock market share is because the mac os itself was built towards consumers, about 50% of windows machines are running as servers or as business computers (they should be running linux though!). I think Apple as a whole is pretty successful, but I don't think I'd buy a product like the iTouch, iPhone, iPad, simply because the latest showcases of application censorship done in their app store, completely disgusting for a company to deny an author privilege and makes me want to jailbreak anyone's iphones even more. I think that anyone can technically "kill" the iPad, but the marketing team at Apple is pretty fucking good at propaganda and anyone like HP, Dell, etc can in no way match up to them. What honestly happens though is that you have your budget companies come in and totally fuck apple's market up, but apple just pushes out advertisements to make it look like they are winning. edit: i also love how i just contradicted myself
  2. Processor

    1) Core Duos are not Core 2 Duos, infact Core Duos are extremely terrible processors. 2) Core Duo Pentium is one of the worst processors ever made, it's just a slighty rebranded Pentium 4 with a second processor, the CPU itself was released about 4 years ago, and BC2 is no lightweight on CPU power, in fact you need a lot more of that than you do GPU. In terms of features, price and performance at a given clock frequency, Pentium Dual-Core processors were positioned above Celeron but below Core and Core 2 microprocessors in Intel's product range. The Pentium Dual-Core was also a very popular choice for overclocking, as it can deliver optimal performance (when overclocked) at a low price. ^ Wikipedia. It even scored less than a Core Duo in benchmarks, that's just terrible. The Core Duos were EXTRAORDINARILY worse than the core 2's. so pretty much: pentium d hopefully this guy's mobo's socket is LGA 775 so he can upgrade. I assume he has a prebuilt PC from someone like Dell or HP, can you give us the model number of the computer? Or if you built it yourself, can you give us the motherboard name so we can find out which socket you have? If you don't have a LGA 775 socket, consider buying a new motherboard and a new CPU.
  3. Processor

Why did you just tell a person that owns a Pentium Dual Core that he can run BC2? Are you clinically insane? No way he can run it with that CPU.
  4. Aero is pretty intensive believe it or not, turning it off is so a definite performance booster, but win7's basic aero theme is beyond ugly.
  5. better yet, use linux. best OS to allow custom shells.
  6. Sub video files.

Re-encoding to allow subtitles would be extremely annoying, maybe if you use a DVD Player it should allow you to load subs? I know that your PC can do this with apps like KMPlayer, VLC Player. Xbox 360 can also do this aswell, dunno bout PS3 though.
  7. sorry regionals, ill sum it up even more since you don't understand. Fuhjyyu caps are the ones used in Raidmax and Antec and some other Power Supply manufacturers, these caps come from a very poor quality country called China that produces very low grade products due to poor working conditions. You never went to go cheap on power supplies. Your power supply pretty much dictates your whole computer, you fuck up and buy a shit PSU, your whole computer is going to take the blame and parts can get fucked. Corsair uses capacitors from Japan and are much more highly respected by sites like jonnyguru, etc. If you own a Antec PSU after about 1-3 years, feel free to open it up and check out the caps, they will most likely have some nice brown goo on them
  8. yes, 3-4 years was when I used AHK with SA-MP to make quick binds.
  9. You could try making your own script with AutoHotKey. Don't ask me for help though, I haven't touched it in YEAAARSSSSS
  10. Recommend me a PC

Do you know what Virtual Memory is, ReGIONALS?
  11. Antec is a shitty buy as they use caps that are made in China, rather than Japan.
  12. Recommend me a PC

I think you just dislike opinions that differ from yours.
  13. Recommend me a PC

I agree with Potshot's post except I prefer Corsair PSU over OCZ, but it's all about the fanboy opinion. dual cores are still a smart buy for now, if you think this desktop is going to last a long ass time, maybe you could pump it to a Phenom II X3 at best, but going Quad isn't worth it if you're gaming small time, even the high-end games like Crysis 2 or Bad Company 2 aren't going to push you that hard, but if you want to stay top dog, get the X3 top price. I'd recommend sticking with the HD5770, it's a super amazing buy right now, no fucking joke. Another thing is that Potshot's ram link is currently unavailable. I personally don't think ANYONE needs 4gb ram if you just game, I'm sorry, but it's true. I've been running 2GB for 3 years now and don't think you'll need more than 2-3 if you are just gaming. Dual channeling is nice though.
  14. I love taking showers, the hot soothing water clears the mind and allows me to think. I think of some pretty good ideas when I'm in the shower. I feel like the only place I can really take up things going on in my life is in a shower. My mind is at ease, while still being able to think about things. I could say I've had a few epiphanies about my life in the shower.
  15. I'm not like everybody else during sex The Kinks
  16. When I used XP i used like XPize or whatever, which mostly just fixed some of those Win2000 icons scattered over the place. it looked mucho gracias. I also recommend modding your uxtheme.dll for custom unsigned themes. But a good post either way. I thought vista looked alright.
  17. How much did the 12GB of DDR3 cost? When my friend was building a ESX PC she spent a shit-ton for ram. anywho: Q6600 2.4 Stock, OC'd to 3.2GHz (highest i could get that passed prime95, ive heard people do 3.6 though) 8800GT 512MB (i could OC this as im still under warranty, but OCing GPUs is SO shitty and fruitless) 2GB 800mhz Dual Channel Crucial GA-P35-DS3L Rev 2.0 Motherboard 500GB SATA 3gb/s WD Green (i tried to get the blue ) RAIDMAX Smilodon Dirktooth Green Some stocky 500W PSU Tuniq Tower Heatsink (the 950 series I THINK) Some stocky DVD-ROM drive this was like $400 at purchase a little less than 3 years ago. without the HD at that time, bought the HDD like last year or some shit.
  18. I guess you're right. If you think that you should get a laptop over a desktop because you can save money on shipping costs, then go ahead. But if you want to save money and not make a silly purchase, don't buy a _gaming_ laptop.
  19. Go Corsair and hit up atleast 600W just so you have pushing room if you decide to rebuild you can at least keep your PSU. When you "reup" your pc you'll want to have atleast 600W out there especially with the high wattages that nvidia and ati are dragging out.
  20. Come on guys, his first image was a photobucket account linked image and the second one was a .de site, you guys should've caught this one easier than a detroit ball going down left field.
  21. How much would the laptop cost to ship on UPS? The one you have?
  22. Mac's + Other stuff

Get free software like GIMP and Paint.net. If you have the cash you might want to get Photoshop. Which you said you are. But you really shouldn't get a mac D: all this software is on Windows as well. There are certainly a lot more apps that you'll want here and there, but from my point of view those are the only ones I really know that are mainstream.
  23. A laptop can range from very heavy to very light. In most cases when you buy a "gaming" laptop it can fairly heavy. Depending on how much your desktop weighs. It can range the same. Desktops and laptops don't usually differ in durability. Believe it or not, a desktop tower is pretty durable. As for your LCD I agree, it would be hard to ship. But the extent of $200? Don't be ill witted. If you wish to bring up small details that can garner the idea of owning a desktop, I shall aswell. A laptop can easily be stolen. I've seen it happen once (airport). And have heard of it many a times. Laptops are also usually the target to more clumsy effects like dropping them, or spilling something on their keyboard and ruining the parts inside. I disagree. Most laptops sold today WILL be outdated in 2 years. In fact, most laptops performance wise are still years behind in terms of performance done by desktop powerhouses. Laptops also have additional costs, like the cost of external fans if you need to keep it cooler, along with having to replace your battery, or in some cases, your A/C cord as well. It's possible also tobreak your keyboard and need to reship to manufacturer. Either way, my recommendation is to stay extremely cheap. Hell you can even get backbone PCs with very tiny cases, get a LCD and attach it to the barebone PC (its not as hard as you think). Most laptop manufacturers use flimsy cases that suffer from overheating, etc Agreed. If a laptop overheats after 20 hours that is your main problem. You think thats a long time but most desktop computers run for WEEKS NON-STOP. I think I've clocked atleast a month at one time on my desktop. Believe me, they overheat too easily. I don't own one. My school owns them and I've used them for 4 years. 2 years I've had them 24/7 for about 200 days straight. They are tablet computers that cost about $800 without the software installed (it's much much much more than that). Laptop manufacturers like HP, Dell, Gateway, Sony, and Apple are NOT what you think. They are not "REALLY GOOD" laptop makers. They use extremely cheap laptops parts and attempt to use poor power supply caps which cause melting in the power supply unit. It CAN kill you and your laptop. Laptop manus are not your friends. There's a reason we build our computers, it's because computer manufacturers fuck you over and we all know it. Gaming laptops are a bad buy. This is from personal experience and years of computer knowledge coupled with computer repairing. Mostly software issues, however. This is probably one of the biggest lies I have ever seen. I work with students on homework each day on our tablets. Our teachers tablets only last about 5 minutes 100%. I can prove that too. My laptop from last year last about an hour or two so I was content but I've seen some just shit poor battery life. Upgrading your battery seems to be the only way to get shit done too. Also PSPs are the shit. Emulating SNES/NES/N64 and being able to play PS1 and PSP exclusive games. Now that owns.
  24. No, this is because you get a gift, then the gifter takes his credit card and files the purchases as fraud or etc, anything that can get the purchase declined. The steam account that received the gift is then disabled. I'm surprised this isn't common knowledge yet either, I've declined quite a few of $1 gifts just because of this.
  25. So I see you are a fan of Moot? anyway, all the cool kids are using reddit now. and doing bacon.
