1. Any kind of professional forms of advertising will be expensive and most likely not for us. As sad as it is, word of mouth is most effective. You meet people outside of SG tell them about it. Could be as easily as hey join us on TeamSpeak so we can talk there instead of in-game or whatever. As far as that game tracker, sad thing is that we have not had control over that since Garfield left and I am not sure what it would take to regain control. Kind of why we have 2 steam groups as well.
2. The short answer is no. We actually do not want more focus on the forums. Our primary focus is on server population. It has been my experience and it is our plan if we actually turn our server population around we will find more people visiting the forums. Back when I first was AO SG had 6 or 7 servers in the top 100, several of them were the top server in the game mode. Our population saw a steady increase due to that fact. I did research about a month ago. Most of our servers now are on the outside of the top 1000 and falling. Now we are swinging around and have broken the top 1000. As far as the specifics to your question, everyone from CA+ is a forum moderator with a few exceptions, which really with the amount of moderation needed is too many.
3. This was something I researched recently to come up with the server recommendations to of what they are. CS:S's overall population has declined severely. The introduction of the marketplace into CS:GO essentially killed the game. After Valve updated the engine back in 2012 or whenever was the last bit of major care/work that went into the game and it steadily went down in population as the rise of CS:GO came about. Initially CS:GO was struggling due to the competitive nature of the game and the lack of plugins available to work in them. I remember waiting a good 2 months for metamod and source mod to come up with their plugins. But once the marketplace got installed, CS:GO just went apeshit crazy in population cause as with TF2, you *could* make money by playing the game. As of now, there are more 1.6 players on a daily basis than CS:S players and there are more than 10 times more CS:GO players. (source: http://store.steampowered.com/stats/) So our move to CS:GO is based off the facts our CS:S servers are no longer one of the top servers (thats what most of the CS:S players have established server populations) and that there are many, many more players on CS:GO that we would reach.
4. While we are always open to take the donations, the setups are what they are. If someone is able to be setup as a subscriber, with the meaning that they regularly contribute automatically, then thats great. Theres also nothing stopping said person from cancelling after one month. Which at this point they really are just a donator. Its a lot of work for our management team to handle, even when we have it automated as much as we can. Now for those who have the "special" situation where they do not have credit cards or bank accounts tied to their paypal account for whatever reason. You probably should PM Xeno or Revenga and ask if a special case can be made where you donate the normal way and you are actually placed in the subscriber rank. This would entail special attention and special work, so just doing this every month would not be acceptable. I would recommend a possible "prepay" scenario where you would pay for 3 months at one time.
5. It could be cause they need a card tied to the account since its a subscription which deals with monthly payments and the wallet may not have money in it all the time.
6. UPDATE! We made a small change that has to deal with end of rounds. Previously if you had anywhere under 5 people on the server there was a chance that an entire team would be killed before the next player could respawn, ending the round and resetting the players. That made things more difficult on nade rounds. We have now fixed it so that the rounds do not end. This makes it easier to get past nade rounds and a lot smoother of a game. Thanks Pan for the server variable. I also removed a map out of the map list due to it not downloading properly, it was gg_purplemania. If you run into a problem like that let us know immediately.
7. I believe the 50 number was to give incentive for people to adopt this early for best value. We wanted to have a good number of people to benefit from this opportunity. While the end result number will give the community a more stable income, we felt we should be generous with this. As we go forward we plan to implement other features, some we've already though of and have been working on but could not make it available upon release. I would like to think that the subscriber could be compared to the 'early access' to new features at SG. From here on out, subscriber is only going to get better and better. I think some clarification here is in order. Its not truly another source of donations. As you may have noticed many of the active donators are participating. These people are not double donating. What subscriber is doing is giving us a way to have a more stable income and an easier form of payment for people willing to donate on a monthly basis. As far as seeing more servers, I still believe downsizing is our current best option. Having empty servers doesn't help anything. I don't recall hearing a hard date for the downsize but I believe it is still on track to happen. That said, having the more stable income can allow us to plan in the future. If we do see the increase in income adding more servers is possible, but I believe and I think most of the higher ups believe, server population rules all. If we have consistently full servers, it tells us we may need to provide more options for our users. Just cause we have the money to spend on more stuff doesn't necessarily means we should. Server population is priority number one for us here. Its a good statistic for us to be able to see the growth and future for the community. Sorry for the walls of text but these were two very good questions.
8. Due to unforseen issues with some special addons we had to choose to not place them on the server. That is not to say we won't add them in the coming days. The choice was to get you guys the server the community requested at least 2 weeks out from Christmas, but with the problems we encountered we had to make some decisions and this was one of them.
9. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! We've listened and now we are delivering you an early Christmas Present! Presenting CS:S Gun Game! 152.7.74.66:27015 We'd like to thank all the people whom have helped test the server the past few weeks while we had to rebuild from scratch. We'd also like to thank Dirkjr for donating this server's resources and his time/patience with myself to bring this server to the community. So enjoy this server! Its a limited time opportunity and we hope everyone gets some time to hop on and level up with some guns!
10. What I can say about this is its close, I believe theres one problem left to be figured out and it was close to being solved.
11. Probably cause of a javascript or stylesheet thing that chrome doesn't use, its an older code so this was expected unfortunately.
12. Maybe next weekend...I've got a full plate this weekend

13. I am Bread

http://store.steampowered.com/app/327890/ Hey Bread, based on true story?
14. There is a plan about the admins, we will release that information soon, but we are not loosing too many. With the server decrease should help the admins help populate the servers more. We also do have other plans that we haven't fully worked out the details yet but to give everyone more incentive to play in the servers. We've only started a rough draft of the idea and it kinda follows the subscriber stuff but will be more directed towards everyone instead of one group of people.
15. This will fill in the people who don't know what happened: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/SteamGamers#announcements/detail/168086565667884386
16. Since our last community meeting there has been a lot of questions regarding it this. I do know we have some good plans that are already in the works to do this. I don't know how much has been discussed publicly yet so I don't want to spoil any surprises, but if there has been talk some other person can talk about that. However, it does start with the "revamp" of the donations system with the "Subscriber". Over the past week we've pushed hard to get this set out and we are very close, I believe we are waiting only for a few things to get fixed on our end before it ready to be unveiled. I know its been a long way since our initial announcement but since I've been part of the process it has moved along significantly and can confirm its really close to being done. This is just the first step of a many new things that we have coming down the pipeline and take my word (or not) that things are a changing and the perks of being a member here at SG will be something you will want to be apart of.
17. I'll be drunk and kickin some ass on whatever game its on :-P
18. I'm always up for a game of MvM. Problem is when you guys are on I'm at work
19. Honestly, this is the kind of attitude that people need to take at this point. Yeah we aren't giving you guys as much in "perks", but what we are doing and what we have been doing are giving you guys the ability for experiences. Experiences is our business. If you have fun around here with everything we are doing then you need to support us. Yes things aren't like they used to be but what is? Everything goes through changes. We do have some fun things we have planned to institute around here but if we have to worry about our donations all the time it kind of side tracks things a bit. Here's one way to look at our financial problem. If we have to downsize away from our dedicated box, we loose a bit of flexibility. Say some new game mode comes out for Gmod, well if we downsize, we may not be able to accommodate a new server. If we downsize we may not be able to get new features out there that we've been working on. Ultimately, if you like what what we have been delivering and would like us to continue to deliver this content to you we need to stay on the dedicated box. However, if you think we can do something else that you like, you also need to suggest it. Talk to a CA or AO, give us ideas. Some times ideas have already been brought up and talked about but participating is always welcome.
20. Surprise no one suggested this sooner, but a programming language. Apparently they want to start teaching it in schools like foreign languages. I started with HTML when I was 14-15 and just branched out from there. Now I know HTML, JS, PHP, MySQL, C++, Python, Lua, and a few specialty languages that are used in specific programs.
21. I don't think it would be possible in-game (it probably is but crazy amount of work), however with a web application could be done with less amount of work.
22. I thought you went to bed :-P

23. There are 360 like controllers made for PC, I use one. Otherwise if you have a wireless setup you just need to set up a receiver and there should be software out there to make it register.
