  1. Discord

Hello everyone, After utilizing a trial run with Discord and weighing our options, we have decided to make the push away from Teamspeak and towards Discord fully. It was a hard decision, but ultimately we believe this is the best option for us. Initially, we were hoping to utilize both TS and Discord simultaneously, sine both have their pros and cons. Eventually, we came to the determination that, if anything, it isn't serving a point to have both, as it's just wasted time in extra upkeep. So we weighed the pros and cons of both, and we believe that Discord is the future. TeamSpeak has had a great run (Ventrilo is still the best), but it is time for SG to move on and fully integrate to Discord. With that being said, we will be closing TeamSpeak down on the 31st of January. This should give us more than enough time to make sure everything is looking pretty. For those of you higherups that are utilizing our Slack channels - we may also be moving to Discord for that, as well...standby for that...we will keep you updated. Thanks everyone
  2. Gator and Wawa have decided to make this optional for AT's / CA's, just encouraged to keep everyone informed as much as possible
  3. Kicks is banned for a day for posting like an ass. I warned all of you that we were done with the BS and were going to start issuing bans - there's an obvious line that was crossed in this situation, and I'd say going into threads and calling people fucking retards and faggots with no context should be pretty obvious not to do.
  4. Wow. So...yeah, we're not going to make this a rule. Will's post was sarcastic, but explains probably the biggest opposition to even considering it a rule. In reference to the majority of posts made on this thread...yeah that's not going to fly. Stop spamming and posting BS. Kicks - you are banned for a day, for obvious reasons. I'm leaving your post up for the sole reason of it being easy to reference back to.
  5. I think we're going to discuss admin apps as a whole, so I'm going to go ahead and mark this as rejected, because we aren't sure entirely what changes we are going to be making. But any changes will addressed, and we will keep this thread in mind when discussing.
  6. The rule was created for several reasons, primarily because it can make admin applications drag on into tangents that span a page of posts, and because some people just post dumb shit. Some people create thought-provoking discussion, for sure, but at the time it felt like the bad was outweighing the good. I'm not on the up-and-up on every single post that has been, hasn't been, should have been, and shouldn't have been deleted - but CA's + should be deleting these posts. I'll bring it up with the board and we'll decide on what we want to do, but there's not really a superb reason that sticks out to allow it, in my opinion. It's not saying that some of the posts aren't constructive, it's just that it's not really needed on an admin application. If there is something blatant that should be responded to, IE someone saying 'you have no server activity', yet the applicant has 100 hours in the past week, then just bring it to a CA+'s attention and they can bring it up in the thread. The Board will either delete the post in question that is false, or just not take it into account when weighing in on the app (probably the former). As of right now at this moment - the applicants themselves (at their own risk - for some reason some people think that responding in your own app is bad...I guess?) and CA's+ can question the legitimacy of votes / ask for further clarification of those voting. If you are not a CA or higher, post your vote and leave it at that. If you have something additional to add about someone else's vote, PM a CA+. I'll discuss with the board and post back.
  7. Actually, I see you guys have an AT meeting coming up. If you want to take it to the meeting and get some feedback, go for it. Just post here in general whenever you come up with a decision.
  8. I think it's listed as a responsibility in the sense of 'if there is a public to do list, they will help with it' vs. 'it is the CA's responsibility to create a to-do list and keep it up-to-date, no if ands or buts'. Additionally, it may not be a literal thread called 'To do', but it may be multiple threads with multiple lists of general things to do. I think it's looking a little bit too much into the specific wording, imo. I think that to-do lists oftentimes start out successful, but quickly turn into a dead thread. Short term projects are good to have to do lists for, but an overall to-do list might just collect dust. There's a decent argument for them, as well as a decent argument against it being a mandatory thing. Not only can it just be one more thing to have to do / update, but some servers probably wouldn't benefit from a to-do thread if there isn't a whole lot needing to be done. Oftentimes a new thread in general can just be created. @Gator @Wawa , you two decide if it is something you want to make mandatory of your team for their respective servers. Either way, post in this thread please by tomorrow with whatever you decide. If you need additional time, just send a message on slack or something.
  9. Hello everyone, We have a few exciting promotions to introduce! To the Junior Technical Team, we are promoting Ejivis and BoTo! Nishok has vouched for these new members and think that they will provide a helping hand on SG's technical side, so we are looking forward to seeing their work! To the Technical Team, we are promoting Wesker! Wesker will remain on the Administrative Team for now, and will still manage ZE. TA will serve as a secondary rank for him. Greggy G is also moving onto the IA team! Additionally, we will be disbanding the manager role for IA. We do not see a point in it, and therefore are getting rid of it for the time being. Should the team expand greatly and a manager is required, perhaps we will bring it back. And, finally, we are doing something a little different. Because the Administrative Team has expanded a bit and we have a couple people who show they can handle a bit more responsibility...we are going to promote two people to the role of Administrative Manager (the Office references have already been made a dozen times, so you're late to the party). The Board is going to do our best with giving them a bit more power and authority to have this rank work...but if anyone could do it, it's these two. We are promoting Gator and Wawa! They will both remain on the IA team as well. Congrats to all of these people, and the recent admin promotions! Additionally, thanks to everyone who turned up for the community meeting.

  11. There is very clearly a disconnect between what was actually posted in the CB and what is being narrated to have been posted. Bear with me cause on phone. The final law of the land is that you cannot use any term to skirt around racism or (obviously) be racist. Ninja is not in any remote way racist - however going ‘what up my ninja?!’ Is very clearly trying to get around the word ‘nigga’. ‘Cracker’ has a racist meaning and a meaning for food - obviously You’re not going to be banned for saying ‘I’m eating some crackers’, but if you start calling people cracker, you’re probably going to get banned. If you (meaning anyone in general; not a specific person) become the reason that we have to issue a ban on a word or even consult with issuing a ban on a word because you took what was allowed (IE choosing bits and pieces of my post and not the entirety), we are probably not going to be lenient. If you go on CB and say ‘you’re an ooga booga! It’s not racist rofl!’ And you are openly acknowledging the fact that what you are saying can be construed as racism and you are making light of that fact...yeah we’re probably not going to be cool with it. The irony is the amount of racism that gets overlooked in TS channels, yet people still feel the need to push that to the forums publicly. Ooga booga May very well become a banned term. I think it’s incredibly frustrating that we have to take time to express ‘Don’t use shit in a racist way or even put your toe on the line’, and what happens is people try to turn that into a joke, and then they end up getting banned when it passes the line. I’ll get with the board and we’ll discuss if it should be a banned term or not. However, if it is deemed that you are using ANY word in the dictionary, urban dictionary, glossary of any sort, or any other word in existence - whether a real word or not- is a manner that is racist or intentionally trying to get around being racist, it will be handled as racism. As a side note: in case all of you have not been able to tell from bans and demotions that have been issued, I’m personally not dealing with a lot of this BS drama. I will be very upfront with all of you and say that if you’re an asshole or cause general grief to myself / the board, you’re done when you cross that line that we deem. 90% of you won’t have to worry about this, but the people who are being dickheads, causing problems, making snide posts, false reporting posts, and in general causing drama - do not be surprised when we collect on that. Remember those forum rules that you agree to - the board has the final say in any and all aspects of the community. If you’re toxic, we will boot your ass out the door. No one is saying if you make a small mistake or disagree with someone that you’re gonna get permed - but think of it as a mass warning going out. It’s pretty sad that a few select people have caused us to get to this point, but i would very much advise all of you to not be complete dicks, and that is for any and all ranks, as I’m sure the public can tell.
  12. There’s a couple reasons behind it - namely encouraging people to create accounts and to have some tiny form of privacy from bots gathering data. Thanks for the suggestion, but there’s not really an incentive to change it. But yeah, it’s definitely intentional.
  13. Great to have you back dude
  14. Hey everyone, It's time for some promotions! We've got a few this time around: To Server Representative (which will be changing back to being called Community Advisor soon), we have Charlie, Will, Ned, Manny, Military King, and ! Their new duties are: To the Administrative Team, we are promoting Grateful, Wavy, Tides, and Papa! Their new duties are: Congrats to all these hard-working members, you are sure to be busy during this holiday season! These guys (and lady) have worked their butts off and deserve some recognition and some extra responsibilities. Additionally, we are disbanding the Marketing Team. It was a great idea that had a lot of hard work and effort put into it, but unfortunately we just do not see a need to keep it around for now - but maybe it will be brought back in the future! We are also going to be removing having 'manager' positions, and just have a BD in charge of each team - with the exception of the TA team. Nishok has been around this place forever, was a BD even before I was, and has proven time and time again that he can successfully lead a team...so, for now, we are leaving him as the manager of the TA's! And lastly: we will be having a community meeting on Sunday, the 16th of December. The time is TBD, and expect at least a CA+ meeting to follow. Thanks everyone, enjoy your holidays!
  15. Back From Hell

I’m just now seeing this thread, but congratulations. Few people will ever understand what it is like to step on the yellow foot prints, let alone complete Marine Corps boot camp. I have a few friends who are drill instructors - had I known where you were I definitely would have had them fuck with you lol. Someone put in a request for you to be HG - after reading this thread, I vetoed it without consulting with the Board on their opinion (sorry guys). I was deployed to Afghanistan while I was on the Board of Directors, and Spartan (given the circumstances) did not demote me when I requested to step down. With that being said, I don’t see a reason why we would not just give you your admin back outright. So, effective immediately, I’m making an executive decision to reinstate you as an admin. Don’t worry about activity - do what you can when you can. I’ve been there and understand what it is like. I’m away from my computer and will be unable to add you back until I get home, but another BD / TA is free to add you if they get to it first. Happy (belated) birthday, and Semper Fidelis.
  16. Either screenshot or take a demo and post it in the player complaint section. Include you asking them to stop, because otherwise it may be construed as them joking with you. Also, don't join in and start harassing them back, because that'll either get all of you banned or all of you to be told to just leave each other alone.
  17. This pretty much answers the question. To piggyback off of what is said in that thread, an apology is generally well-accepted. Making a huge deal about the situation and demanding a slay from an admin or the player themselves just disrupts game-play. If the guy is generally apologetic and isn't causing an issue, I'd encourage all admins to use some type of conflict resolution (if any is actually needed) other than actual admin powers. You don't always need to slay someone just because they accidentally freekill someone (whether by crossfire or by a general misunderstanding of the rules). This is completely a suggestion, as you are entirely allowed to slay for a free kill, but sometimes it really is not the best option. I'd encourage commonsense and good judgment for each situation.
  18. Hello everyone, I am excited to announce that we are officially partnered with Gaming Community Central (GCC). Some of you may have heard of them, but they are essentially a community for gaming communities (say that ten times fast). They take some of the top communities around and bring them together to do a multitude of things, such as creating inter-community events. We were looking at joining them about six months ago - unfortunately, due to some conflict that we apparently had with another community that demanded we demote certain members, we decided it was best for us to steer-clear. After some more talks with el jefe (Empathetic Peacemaker) and determining that the other community was no longer involved with GCC, the Board and marketing team here decided that joining GCC will be a huge step forward for SG. This does not mean we are selling, giving away a percentage, merging, etc. It is just a group of communities that mingle together for a common goal. Empathetic Peacemaker runs the show at GCC along with some other great people. I have not had the pleasure of meeting all of them yet, but Peacemaker is a great guy - here is his message to us: To touch on what 'Advisors' and 'Ambassadors' are: As advisors, Prez and myself will essentially be acting behind the scenes. We are the two top ranking people representing SG, and are there pretty much if any issues arise or if there is anything top-priority that needs to be handled. Black rain, All Ts, and Leon Mordecai will serve as ambassadors, meaning they will handle day-to-day operations. While they will not literally be day-to-day, they involve things like community events, outreach, and any general information or participation needed from our community. I have spoken with Peacemaker plenty of times about some of his plans for GCC, and I strongly believe that he is taking it in the right direction. While I won't divulge everything we have discussed, I definitely look forward to our future with GCC! There are going to be events and things coming up shortly and (hopefully) on a recurring basis - I do not want to use this thread for that, but simply for the announcement of our official partnership. The Marketing Team will be keeping all of you updated on any events that are happening in the future for GCC! Thanks
  19. Eminem

100% this. I didn’t have an easy childhood and grew up listening to Eminem because it felt like there were certain ways I could relate. Grew up being a huge fan, and Encore was like ‘meh’ to me, wasn’t the same as the first three. Then everything after was 99% hot garbage. His diss track is him still trying to feel relevant imo. Not even a big MGK fan but MGK fucking destroyed him - every line still has me saying ‘daaaaaaamn’ after. listening to an MM LP or SS LP type of diss then listening to that new shit was depressing.
  20. Congrats all. Glad to see an old schooler come back to the community in a ‘higher up’ type of role.
  21. I don’t understand your logic. Whey should not be encouraged as a ‘I’m not eating perfectly, let me take some whey’ type of deal. Whey spikes the shit out of your insulin levels and too much of it converts amino acids into sugar and some into glucose. There is literally no reason for a 14 year old who has probably no idea how this stuff works (and has very little real-world grasp yet due to just getting interested in lifting) to take whey over eating a normal, healthy meal.
  22. It’s not that he’s going to die taking whey, but he probably can’t even describe why he’d take whey (without googling it). He isn’t in a workout program yet, probably has no idea how to count macros, and can get all the protein he needs via a standard diet. It’s a complete waste of money imo at his age without having any incorporated knowledge or workout plan to back up the actual need for whey (assuming there’s no medical need for whey).
