  1. Hello everyone, As we all know, society becomes more / less tolerant on certain things as times change. In this particular instance, I'm talking about homophobic slurs...e.g. 'faggot', 'fag', etc. I think we've all been seeing this coming for a long time, but we are officially banning use of the word 'faggot' (along with any variation of this) on every SG platform. This is a specific ban on that word, and nothing more. If caught using it, it will be treated like any other word on the banned list, however we are obviously going to be a bit understanding for a period of time while everyone integrates with the new rule. Additionally, to clarify a policy where we may have allowed certain words in private channels (whether locked or unlocked), on the servers, etc...I am going to say this to clarify our stance: Banned words are banned throughout all of SG, whether in a private channel, public channel, locked, unlocked, in the CSGO servers, etc. Unless otherwise specifically mentioned after this thread, there is no exception or clause to that. A banned word is banned everywhere on SG. If there are any questions, please let us know. I'm sure there are more words that people want to see added, which is fine, and you can bring them up the chain. We're taking it a bit slow and making sure that every decision we make is in the best interest of the community and its players. Thanks
  2. Job Opening

Air Canada is an airline company lol, Nav Canada is the actual air traffic system. They basically bought it from the government for like a billion dollars.
  3. Job Opening

I wouldn't recommend doing Canadian air traffic control at the moment. Pretty unstable with layoffs and whatnot right now since they're privatized. Collisions like that are, for the most part, largely not true...but make for great TV. There's just so much technology in today's aviation world and so many automated systems, that they usually catch something that is going to be dangerous. They used to exist and they still exist in smaller civil settings, but not so much with major airliners lol.
  4. Job Opening

Not sure if this would be better served in the Economics section or here, but here it goes: There is a 'no relevant experience required' job announcement to be an air traffic controller opening up on USA Jobs from July 30th - August 2nd. These openings do not happen often; maybe once every year to two years. Great benefits, pay, etc - probably one of the highest paying jobs that don't require a degree. Main stipulation is you have to be under 30. I highly recommend the job, especially if you have nothing else really going on and want a change of scenery with your life. Feel free to ask me any questions, whether on here or privately, and I can help out with the hiring process if need be. For those interested, just type in Air Traffic Controller into the search bar (but make sure you select the correct one, there will be others that are not applicable) on the 30th...it should be 12am EST. Apply soon, cause they often close the flood gates early after receiving a bunch of applications.
  5. The pandemic has delayed this quite a bit, but I finally got a deployment date. I quit my job back in February, and unfortunately the next morning was informed that I would be delayed quite a bit. It was pretty sweet having 4 months off...it's the longest I've ever had off. I haven't taken a break from working for longer than a week or two in 10 years, and it felt amazing. Definitely made me realize how unhappy I was at the last job and how important mental health was. Anyways, I'll be leaving in three weeks. As always, Gator is in charge in my absence. Additionally, he has the final say in any and all matters pertaining to SG. I don't imagine that I'm going to be fully AFK - but I will probably be as far as any discussions or decision-making for at least a week or so while I get set up out there. I don't think it will be much more than that, but I figure that I'll just put him in charge for now, just in case. Thanks all
  6. Strayyz is going to run the stream for me this Sunday and pick a winner. Thanks to all those who participated! Going forward we're going to try and possibly integrate a plugin into the website for this, as well as getting me set up on Twitch (I know nothing about how it works). We probably will not do one for the month of May, but look out for June!
  7. Thanks all for participating! I’ll post more regarding choosing the winner later today / tomorrow.

      how are you Caution?

  9. Only about 4 or 5 people are participating, so hurry and get your tickets in before tomorrow night!
  10. Bump - get your tickets! So far no one has participated, and at this point seems like an easy way to nab a $25 gift card, cause I’m giving it away even if only one person buys a single ticket!
  11. the old ‘dick in the bottom of the popcorn bag’ trick eh
  12. happy birthday dude

  13. Thanks for all the hard work and dedication man. We hope to see you back here sometime in the future!
  14. Sorry, forgot to put in the PayPal code.
  15. Alright everyone, This month we're gonna keep it simple with a single $25 Steam Gift Card. Buy-ins for the raffle are $1. Same rules apply as last time, and it ends the last minute of April. Make sure to message me with confirmation so you can get raffle #'s. Please let me know if you have any questions!
  16. only room temperature and only in gallon containers. I carry it around as an incentive to drink it. Usually do between a gallon to two gallons a day. I don't mind cold water if I'm in the middle of an Afghanistan summer, but in 95% of situations it's room temperature or I'll just wait. Same with booze. I think cold whiskey / liquor in general (unless it's a mixer for a cold drink) is gross.
  17. Hey all. So, given the circumstances of Roux, I'm going to cut this short by a few days. There was also a lack of interest, with only one person buying raffle tickets. Instead of cancelling the whole thing and doing it again another month, I'm actually going to give the skin to the one person who bought raffle tickets. Which I think is a better route to incentivize buying some tickets! Additionally, after running that poll, we're going to move in the direction of steam gift cards instead for next month. Congrats to @FanServicefor winning by default! Send me a request on steam so I can give it to you.
  18. Seeing him log off steam for the last time hit. I'm free all day tomorrow and will play with the streamers all 12 hours if there's room.
  19. Good evening everyone, I am writing this thread to inform you all of a recent tragedy here at SG. It is with great sadness that I have to tell you all that Roux has passed away. For those of you who may not have met Roux, he was a former BD, a longtime member, and a great friend to many of us here. You could always find him making funny montages, spamming to subscribe to him in the chatbox, grinding PayDay2 achievements, or talking about having intercourse with people's moms. I didn't think the news about Roux could get much worse when his house burned down last year...but unfortunately here we are. Currently, those who were close to him are trying to reach out to the family to see if there is anything we can do as a community to help, like we did with the unfortunate burning of his house. Please be respectful, and do not push for further details surrounding all of this, as it really isn't anyone's business beyond this. Love you buddy, thanks for all the hard work, laughs, and memories.
  20. I think that the workload increasing = playtime decreasing can definitely be true in some aspects. As basically a manager of managers, a BD's workload can get even heavier when we had ranks like AO staffed full of people with...well we'll call them 'unique personalities'. Because that HAS to get handled at the BD level, we can't delegate that out at all. Now that we've opened up ranks a bit with some more specific purposes, it's been a lot better. The other thing (for me, anyways) is that I've been playing SG for 14 years; a forum member for 13 years; a higher up for 11 years; a BD for 8 years; and the owner for 6 years (something like that). It goes without saying that the people I played games with all those years ago are mostly gone. While I still keep in touch with a few people from back in the day through various platforms, as life pulled me further and further away due to growing up, graduating high school, joining the military, deploying, etc., I felt like I was constantly having to make new groups of friends, as the old ones were just constantly cycling in and out through bans or just life catching up. 95% of the fun of playing games online is playing them with people you know and enjoy, or people you know and want to troll - the other 5% is the actual game itself. With that being said, it stopped becoming fun for me for the most part. Throw in having to learn a new game (CSGO), and it's kinda meh. I'm not saying it's not fun at all now, but I feel like I'm having to work for the fun instead of it just coming naturally, if that makes sense. Some of the most fun I've ever had in my life was 2008 - 2009 prison break with the old school, simple maps...and the few summers we had a CSS scrim server that we had completely full all day every day full of SG people. Think that was like 2012 - 2013 ish.
  21. I never understood the correlation some people make between working out / being big and hand-to-hand combat training. Additionally, there’s a significant difference between being taught how to defend yourself and / or subdue an opponent vs. being taught how to take their life. Most forms of training do not teach the latter...unless you joined the few and the proud.
  22. Nope, it has nothing to do with supporter, as mentioned. It's roughly 1/10th the cost of the skin.
