Very sorry to hear about this man. A few years ago I held my dog Luigi in my arms as he was put to sleep for good. Some of my first memories involved Luigi considering we had him since I was 4 years old. But towards the end his quality of life was so awful that we made the extremely tough choice to let him go. Unfortunately, that's what's best. Dogs give us their undivided loyalty and love for their entire lives, the least we can do is allow them to rest as opposed to selfishly keeping them alive while they suffer. You made the right choice, it was his time. Just remember that all your dog ever knew for however long he was with you was love and comfort. You gave him a great life. Adjusting to life without him is going to be very difficult but despite how cliche it sounds, it really does get easier every day. Wishing you and your family the best in your time of grief.

Server Removal / Suggestions
Dominic posted a topic in SG Info & Discussion
Hello everyone, The Board is in constant talks about the state of the servers, what's working and what's not, and new opportunities. Recently we've discussed removing more of our older servers that aren't doing us any good anymore. The servers that are on our radar for removal currently are Bhop and Retakes. In reality, despite Bhop's tendency to sometimes pick up in population at random, it hasn't done us much good since it was released in 2016. We don't really retain the players, and it's always acted as a secondary server that our community members use once they're already apart of our community. The same with Retakes, it's a situation where it isn't really bringing us any new regulars. Now, we're coming to you guys to ask for your thoughts and opinions on the removal of these servers. However, we're also interested in what else you'd like to see or, rather, what you think will do us good. A lot of these projects we've released recently are ones that we see massive potential in. GMod TTT, CSS Gun Game, and TF2 Casual are servers that we definitely see massive growth potential with, and we're interested in any additional projects that offer similar potential. Clearing useless servers out gives us the opportunity to make space for more potentially fruitful projects such as these, which is our goal with this. Please share your thoughts, they're greatly appreciated. -
Introducing the Expansion Committee!
Dominic posted a topic in Announcements
Hey everyone, The Board has been in deep talks recently about the state of the Events Team, but also the desire for some sort of new team that can take on some more community based responsibilities as opposed to being entirely focused on the servers. While the servers are our main focus, we need to consider the importance of other aspects such as community engagement and marketing / outreach. Given the rough patch the Events Team has gone through, we saw fit to repurpose the team entirely and tack on some new responsibilities to allow for more breathing room in what they're able to do. With that, we're introducing the 'Expansion Committee', which will start off with a small set of responsibilities that we see as most important, with the potential for more to be added. With this, we're also hoping to see some old faces join up who had a passion for things such as this. The current Events Team members will all be carried over, however we're hoping to see some substantial growth in the team's size, as there's plenty to be done. @Acer will be heading the team, essentially as an AO would with a server. So there'll be no official manager rank or 'hierarchy', but he'll work directly with the BDs and give us updates. The responsibility set to start it off will be as follows: Create community events to bring our player base together Promote activity on all of our platforms including servers / forums / Discord Discuss ideas to increase activity on our platforms Research advertising & partnership opportunities Recommend general marketing ideas for the community We're looking forward to seeing how the team performs and hope to see some promising results. Partnerships, especially with other Discord communities / gaming communities, is legitimately my top priority at the moment. Please, if anyone has any in mind, message me. Skimmed the rest of the post and it looks like you bring up some great ideas, I'll probably respond more in depth later.

Community Meeting - 1/13 @ 7pm EST
Dominic posted a topic in Announcements
Community Meeting - Friday, 1/13 @ 7pm EST Hey guys, This is honestly a bit overdue given the pace things are moving at, but we're excited to be hosting a community meeting this Friday. This is especially important given the fact that Caution and Gator have just passed the reigns to Revenga and myself, which was followed by two new Board members being promoted as well. We want you guys to hear directly from us about our vision for the community moving forward, and we want to give you all an opportunity to speak directly to us. As it stands, Revenga and myself are looking to be present along with at least one other Board member, so you'll be able to hear from most of us. Meeting Agenda - Introduction - Community Direction - Server Assessment - Marketing & Outreach - Discord Development - Staff Evaluation - Open Floor / Q&A Feel free to suggest additional topics that you'd like to see added to the agenda, though most of our time will probably be occupied by the last section where you'll be able to bring up any new topics on the spot. We're going to look to start running these regularly again, so if you can't attend this one don't worry about it. We're looking forward to seeing you all there and having some quality discussion with you all! The meeting will be held on our Discord server @ https://discord.gg/steamgamers Thanks guys. -

Huge thank you to @Revenga and especially @Nishok for getting this going - they dumped a lot of time into this. It looks super good and we're in a much better spot now too. Big round of applause for these gentlemen. And yeah, gun game is sick and I've been playing it nonstop. Probably a good chance of us actually pulling in quite a bit of population from that. You guys will love it. -
Really appreciate everyone’s help, saved me a lot of trouble. Been thinking on it, if I did build a whole new computer (which I think I have to at this point), my budget would probably be like $3000. If anyone is willing to help pick some parts, that’d be stellar, hopefully that’s okay for a max price. By the way I do see some people already made some suggestions, I appreciate it. Just haven’t been around my computer and wanted to give a budget since some people asked.

My computer is roughly 7 years old, still runs like a charm. The only thing I've ever had to replace was a $20 CPU fan, and the only thing I've ever upgraded was my graphics card. Thing is, that was like a year in to having the computer, so I upgraded from whatever I had to a GTX 1050 Ti, so that's what I still have. For a few weeks of being back into gaming, seemed to work fine. I had like 300fps on CS:GO still, and other games ran good enough. However I've become interested in running games at higher settings like CS:GO for instance, and when I do that it goes from 300fps -> hovering around 90fps. I know you're supposedly not able to see the difference above 60fps but the drop feels noticeable. In other games the drop is detrimental. I didn't realize graphics cards have come so far in that amount of time, with Nvidia already at the 40 series. Should I upgrade my graphics card to the newest one? Because I was just thinking of getting something in the 20 series and I figured that would be a good enough upgrade. Also not sure if the age of my computer would have anything to do with compatibility for new cards so wanted someone more experienced to chime in. Because I'm also curious about whether or not it's worth upgrading and if just a new graphics card will do me enough justice. Would greatly appreciate advice, thanks in advance.

Promotions + The Return of TeamSpeak!
topic replied to Dominic's eXtr3m3 in Announcements
Good suggestion, we want to do this but first we're looking to clear up the sidebar a little bit. @Revenga and I spoke a bit about what we could realistically axe from there in order to add this in. Definitely on our to-do list. -
No better place to ask, I suppose. I've been conflicted for weeks now about which console to get, as I'm very interested in having one. I have a lot of friends who play consoles so I'd be able to play with them, and it's a lot easier to play at night. I've read a lot of articles and I'm just not sure which one trumps the other, if that's even the case. The exclusives for the PS5 are pulling me in a lot, plus I'm a bigger fan of the controller and the Playstation UI. Still somewhat conflicted though. Thoughts?

Partnership with The Modding Community!
Dominic posted a topic in Announcements
Hello everyone, I'm excited to announce that we have partnered with The Modding Community! The owner and founder, Christian, has a lot of experience with gaming communities and actually played at Steam-Gamers years back prior to taking on his own endeavors. His community, The Modding Community, is just the first of many different projects he's working on, all with massive potential for success and just as much potential to change the direction of gaming entirely. We have many shared interests, and being a hub for gaming communities is just one of the ways in which we mutually benefit from partnering up. You can find our community listed on their main website at https://moddingcommunity.com/ or by clicking this link right here. We encourage you all to make an account on their forums and join our community while you're at it! Additionally, I'd like to announce that Christian has just released one of the various projects I mentioned. Please go check out the release of the Mod Marketplace! Christian and I spoke in depth about his vision for this and it already looks stellar with more features to come. Here's the direct link: https://moddingcommunity.com/mods/ - here you'll be able to find mods for a variety of games including Minecraft, GTA, CS:GO, and many more. Additionally, help is very much wanted and appreciated in multiple areas such as content creation and social media management. Read more about that and his other projects here. Lastly, I highly suggest joining the Discord with this link: https://discord.com/invite/mzK22dfSqQ - all updates are posted here. Thanks everyone. -
It's Not Really Goodbye, Afterall

I was gonna write 'impeached, lol' and just leave it at that but I've been here for 7 years and haven't ever seen an opportunity to tell you thank you, so I'll take it. Funnily enough, each and every time I've resigned it's been because of you. When I first had CA, you pulled me into a channel and yelled at me for snitching on @All Ts, then I got upset and resigned. When I first had AT, you got into a fight with me and @All Ts over admin application requirements, then we all resigned lol. Then when I first had BD, you wouldn't let me promote @Dongto admin so I resigned. Then you banned me. Then you came to my house and threw a molotov through my window and burned the whole thing down. But despite all of this, my opinion of you never changed. I kept coming back not only because I love SG but also due to my respect for you. But yeah.. you still definitely pissed me off and I still definitely did my fair share of shit talking lol. And while I remember all of those instances, it's not what I remember most. What comes to mind is you messaging me on Slack and asking if I wanted to be on the Board, you messaging me asking if I wanted to be AM before that, you pulling me into a channel after 'the great stepdown of 2018' and asking if I wanted to return as AT / IA, you pulling me into a channel in April of 2018 when the divisions got introduced and offering me a chance at AT, and me getting promoted to the Board and seeing all the instances in the past where you've argued on my behalf and vouched for me moving up. I appreciate all of those chances. I especially appreciate when you chose me over GCC when they demanded I be removed from my position because I called iCamp's girlfriend a bug.. that's a good one. And I also remember all the funny moments. Like you and @Prez pulling me into a channel after I got BD and explaining to me what the Oxford comma was and how I had to use the 'shit sandwich' method for all of my posts going forward. Or you showing up to one of my first CA meetings and saying to @XeNo 'holy shit, Dominic is a fucking higherup, what are we doing?'. Or all those times I followed you onto Jailbreak because I was worried about what you'd do but then ended up laughing too hard at the loopholes in the rules you were finding to care. Or getting on PayDay 2 with you, @roux, and @eXtr3m3 and following all of you around like a jackass because I had no idea what I was doing. Lots and lots of good memories and enough stories to last a lifetime. I appreciate all the advice you've given me over the years, essentially mentoring me on more occasions than I can count, and putting up with the baby bullshit here and there. I've always had a lot of respect for you and when I say that being at SG has taught me so much, a lot of it has come from you. Leadership skills, concepts about dealing with people, methods about addressing backlash, so on and so forth.. things I continuously carry with me. And while it would mean I lose this shiny yellow glow that flashes across my name, I genuinely hope you return very soon and take up your old position. Steam-Gamers won't be the same without you around, and thank you endlessly for continuing to finance this place despite the situation we're in and despite you being away. I'm sure we'll be in contact regardless but best of luck with your endeavors and I hope it all works out in your favor. -
[12/14/22] Favorite hobby outside of video games?

Fighting. I was consistently kickboxing for around a year before my gym closed, haven't gotten back to a gym in the last 6 months just because I've been so busy (and admittedly somewhat lazy), but I have tons of boxing equipment at home and really enjoy it. I want to start up jiu-jitsu soon and my end goal is to be doing muay thai kickboxing alongside jiu-jitsu. I've always viewed that as a stellar combination. I don't have some noble ass reason for enjoying fighting like 'my mind finally goes quiet' or 'it's my getaway' lmao I just feel like a badass by getting good at it. I'm an insanely confident guy and have been for years, but felt an insane confidence boost pretty much immediately after starting. Walking around and feeling as if you could curb stomp literally anyone you come across is a great feeling, even when you know in your heart that the person would probably obliterate you. Highly recommend doing some form of martial arts, and would highly recommend you don't think too much about what you choose to do. Just don't do karate lol. I have considered saying fuck it to kickboxing and jiu-jitsu and just doing Krav Maga though. Anyone with any experience feel free to give your thoughts I would appreciate it. -

SG Leniency
topic replied to Dominic's Bondairy in SG Info & Discussion
I understand where you're coming from and appreciate you having the nerve to speak up, which is exactly why I gave my explicit permission for you to come at this publicly. However, it's not unfair to point out that you're missing copious amounts of information, factors, and motivations. Before I get into it deeper, here's the fact of the matter: decisions are never going to be uniform. There is absolutely zero way to look back on every appeal and make sure we're staying consistent with decisions. There's too many appeals, too many factors, and the biggest thing - every time there will be a different set of people making the decision, all with different opinions. I'll give you a for instance.. I was not involved in any appeals regarding Slothy. However, I was heavily involved with Steel's appeal and argued for him to be unbanned. If I wasn't involved, maybe there would've been no one who spoke up to argue for an unban, and it never would've happened. So it's all about the hand you get dealt, and unfortunately there is no way to be completely fair and objective in every case. We aren't the Supreme Court, we'll evaluate a situation to the best of our ability but we're not cross comparing cases and ensuring that proper justice is served or anything like that.. we're just making the most informed decisions we can in the moment. I'd also like to remind everyone about the precarious situation we're in with the state of the community. You and Arctic Wolf going on Jailbreak and populating it is extremely appreciated, see the benefits we've reaped from unbanning you? In the past, we may not have been so lenient because we weren't struggling as a whole. However now, we're taking chances on people, with good reason too. I was unbanned 6 months ago or so, after being permanently banned for 2 years. Here we are 6 months later, and I've been a Director of the community for 2 months already. So if they hadn't unbanned me, I wouldn't be sitting here typing this. At the end of the day, it's what we're comfortable doing. If someone continues to cause trouble, they'll be dealt with accordingly. Slothy is on an absolute last chance basis before he will be forced out of this community for an extremely long time.. the rest is up to him. And if it comes down to that, it takes us nothing more than 15 minutes to ban him, send a message to the staff team, and then post to the public. If he ends up turning himself around, we're left with a solid regular that plays the server and promotes a positive environment for months on end. If he doesn't we aren't losing much time or energy. -
Introducing Supporter!
topic replied to Dominic's Dominic in Announcements
Just a quick note, we've changed the store credit multiplier for Supporters from 8x to 2x, along with the raffle points per minute from 36/min down to 4/min. These numbers were insanely high given we had 3 tiers and initially brought everything down from the highest rank, but we're still adjusting to the new one tier system. Thanks guys. -
Introducing Supporter!
Dominic posted a topic in Announcements
Not exactly an introduction.. but it seemed like an enticing title. We'd like to introduce our new (not exactly) role: Supporter! The Board and our staff have been discussing the layout of our supporter system and how it fits into our current community structure. With the smaller player base and lower number of servers, we decided that having three tiers didn't make sense anymore. However, we've gone a step further and dropped it back down to one tier, similar to how it was pre-2016. Additionally, we've dropped the price by nearly half what it used to be prior to the addition of new tiers. Our new price is just a few bucks - $2.99! We dropped the price with the thought in mind that we need to account for there not being as many players around currently, with the added thought that we aren't exactly reliant on incoming funds, so there's no harm for us in making it more affordable. However, we'd greatly appreciate anyone who wants to sign up for instant monthly renewal and help SG out, a few bucks a month from a decent amount of people is more than enough for the time being. If anyone did have a constant subscription going, you'll need to renew it. So, this change obviously implies that any and all perks that were in any of the previous tiers have been combined into this one. As a Supporter, you'll have access to every donator perk we have available along with any new ones we think to introduce. This includes but is not limited to access to exclusive in-game player models, a wider array of in-game commands, increased store credit multiplier, various Discord perks such as creating private channels, and much more. We appreciate all of you who have been supporting the community up to this point, and those who choose to support it in the future! Our staff team is working to the best of their ability to ensure the survival and growth of this community. Lastly, I'd like to do a quick giveaway in honor of the unification of these donation tiers. So... let's say the first 5 people to directly message @Hawks on the forums and tell him he's too short will get a month of Supporter on me. Thanks everyone.
