I tried to help you out man, I figured as an admin you'd be a bit better at deescalation Best to quit while you're ahead, you look really insecure coming out of nowhere to flame me in every thread.

One of the biggest issues with this is reaching the target demographic in a cost effective way and having enough infrastructure that getting clicks will be effective.

TTT reached its highest rank in years under my management and was on the rise at the time I left. It died months after my departure but keep it coming -

Except I didn't, I intentionally glanced over it and gave him the benefit of the doubt until daft insisted he was correctly using an even less relevant phrase. Nobody even mentioned you and yet you still come out of the woodwork to be buttblasted. @BoMcould you change my vote to a no? I must've misclicked -

Ah yes, now it makes even less sense. Clearly this is what he meant instead of misusing and misspelling the common phrase he's too smooth-brained to know. You don't have to defend him just because he sucks your cock, he does it for free. -

My brother in Christ, please don't use big words you don't understand. Going to need some proofs of this bold claim as well. -
Set aside a larger portion of money $50-$100 and call it an entertainment expense. You're spending this to have fun and framing it differently will keep you from sinking into something.

lol who? I would make the case that in the past many dedicated, skilled, passionate staff and members have been ostracized, held back, demoted, banned etc in the past due to the boards previous focus and low tolerance on behavior over work done. Understandably, for a group of busy people, it's much easier to keep up with a handful of reports or a quick glance at tone than staying up to date with changelogs, server chats, or actually joining the servers to see what's taking place and how people behave and help shape their servers communities. Given our previous indefinite supply of new faces, it wasn't the end of the world to burn bridges haphazardly in lieu of actually making efforts to resolve interpersonal issues or hear people out, but as time went on and quality replacements became more sparse, the focus should have shifted, which may be what's been occuring more recently as some old and previously unwanted faces make their return. Ironically enough, I think it's this very behavior that leads to hard working staff sperging out in the first place. Person puts in assloads of work, gets passed over because they're less behaved or not as tight with whatever managers/board members are making decisions, said managers cba to look into what work is actually being done or make an effort to reach out and understand perspectives, don't follow up on why someone might not have progressed or on issues they've brought up, rinse and repeat. With that out of the way, I don't think that's who you're referring to here. In the past 6 months I've mostly seen people treading water and losing interest in things they weren't putting a large amount of effort into in the first place. Maybe as someone who's not been in the sphere of staff, you don't have the perspective on something like this, but absent of large intervention of the board, the server managers down are entirely responsible for the performance of specific servers. If you are going to propose that 'all the good staff members' are responsible for SGs steepest decline in players and worst server performance in years I think you are terribly misguided. The board is mostly responsible for handling the community outside of the servers and managing staff. Players have always come from the servers to the community, not the other way around. My biggest gripe with the community itself in the last few months has been that it doesn't seem anyone, new members to long term staff can't get any serious post, discussion, or change out without some retard and 10 other cronies flaming them and shutting things down. Maybe the board could do more about that

Could you go a bit more in depth on the cost breakdown of the tube? -$895 is more than a typical protune (where your car is tuned for specifically what you want using your car specifically, not their model car which will vary from yours from factory, depending on climate, parts etc.) -most OTS tunes are going to try to push as much power as possible out of a build without instructing you to get other supporting mods that would be helpful or necessary to improve reliability (catchcan and cold +1 plugs are a good start) -Im not sure how similar the device mentioned is to an accessport, but it's more useful than just installing maps; checking boost PSI, knock, temps, AFR etc are all useful to know what your car is doing and how healthy it is as well as diagnosing issues or seeing if your tune is performing properly -if you are doing other engine/performance mods, these will not properly be supported by an OTS tune. OTSs generally work off lowest common denominator so you won't necessarily be getting the best bang for your buck or proper reliability with new parts or those you've already installed outside the recommended/required. -Im would advise against a gurgle/pop/ak tune as the sound comes from unburnt fuel igniting after leaving the engine. I'm sure you already know this, but whether it's 5k or 50k miles down the road, it's putting undue stress on your turbo, cat, etc and will degrade things. If you aren't driving stick, you're not even getting the functional aspect of antilag. It's your car and you can do what you want, but just something to consider. I do like how some of the more conservative ones sound, just wouldn't go for it personally My recommendation would be to wait until you have all of the performance mods you'd like completed, beefier intercooler, headers, downpipe, wastegate, injectors or whatever else. Take it to a shop and ask for a 'conservative tune. They know your car is modified and you want something peppy but aren't going to blow your car up to push numbers or make it feel like a racecar. Warranties are weird. I've heard most people say a tune per se won't void you warranty, but damage 'resulting from a tune' may cause claims to be rejected. Call your dealer if you want or try asking around if you're worried about it or curious.

[Movie] The Batman Movie Event!
topic replied to Gentoo's Black Rain in Past Events
Discord has been blocking copyrighted content for the last year or so afaik from being streamed. Isn't that why we'd usually use rabbit or whatever service specifically catered towards this? I'd say the existence of these services is proof enough that this is grey area/legal enough for nobody to bother enforcing it. Anyways, good movie, has some really comical camera angles -

The change in Teamspeak had no impact on the performance of the servers or the activity of the community. There was a short dip in VC users and definitely a change in culture on the platforms but eventually it became as active as the Teamspeak once was. If you think Teamspeak would have kept what's going on now from being the case, I want what you're smoking. I loved Teamspeak as much as the next guy, but I see what's done as done. Maybe you could form some insightful post about why it could redeem itself, or you know, keep being a passive aggressive shit poster. -
Who is SG for?
topic replied to Gentoo's Gentoo in SG Info & Discussion
I would say that I at least subconsciously knee they existed, but the importance of them didn't feel very stressed. Any quarrels about changes were had on the server, events, sparse at the time, just randomly took place with no mention of how they are decided/announced, etc. While things seem to have come a ways, I still think emphasis should be kept, encouraging all staff to direct people here in regards to any problems or suggestions they have. I'm not sure how the decline in servers and shift towards Discord will affect this, I don't see many motivating factors for a regular in the Discord to hop on here, but I'm sure staff can think things up and new servers will open those gates again. I understand that burnout is inevitable and there's not much you can do about that, but anyone in staff knows there are many more factors at play here. I'll try to elaborate after work on topics such as mentoring, ingroups, disagreements after work, if they're not too touchy, but anyone else is welcome to take a stab at it in the meantime. -
Who is SG for?
topic replied to Gentoo's Gentoo in SG Info & Discussion
I spent about about a year playing our TTT server before I reached out to admins and eventually joined the forums to apply for staff. The forums felt weird and distant at the time, I had trouble adjusting to the culture and making friends as very few of the server regulars were integrated and I was pretty retarded at the time. Joining the Teamspeak helped a lot and I was able to hang out with regulars and staff and better integrate in the community. The majority of my connection to the community and dedication to staff hinged on my love for our server in particular, not sure how common the sentiment is or how relevant it is to the conversation, but take that as it is. Touching quickly on the Discord, I've not been active recently. Mostly due to few times I would poke in and try to join a conversation, it was mostly dead, or people would be tucked away into private channels or playing Destiny together, not streaming or entertaining side conversation. Again this wasn't more than 10 times so this could be chalked up to coincidence, but it looked like staff wasn't making a conscious effort to welcome and include people into the community. During my stint as LA among other things such as pushing events and meetings into channels, we encouraged staff to hang out in public channels, stream games, encourage people into VC, and actively integrate with new and young members. This seemed to work great at the time, but it doesn't seem that this effort is still ongoing at first glance. In terms of joining staff and staff retention, these can be touchy subjects if you want to get into the nitty gritty of it, so I may make a more in depth post at a later time. In short, my perspective is that it could be improved. -
Who is SG for?
topic replied to Gentoo's Gentoo in SG Info & Discussion
Looking for what's going on here specifically. As you said earlier, managers would do things to set their servers apart. So what's being done to set the community as a whole apart from others? You've said that our focus has shifted away from CS:GO, but without a clear new direction (other than 'upwards and outwards lol') it seems at a surface level to be discounting their shrinking popularity and resigning them to their fate. I was specifically looking for non-game answers, but you're welcome to bring those in if you can and feel they're relevant. Current servers aside - why hang out here instead of EGO? Is there a focus or active efforts on the staff being more friendly? Is these services or platforms offered unique from other communities? Am I more free to speak my mind? Is it easy to get involved if I want to make friends or help the community in some way? I understand this is a bit open ended, but if I had a specific point to make or facet to encourage, this thread would be in suggestions box lol. Just looking for something a bit more grounded than 'we want everyone here and we're doing whatever we can to make it happen!' but it's understandable if that's not an answer you have. -
Who is SG for?
topic replied to Gentoo's Gentoo in SG Info & Discussion
i appreciate your efforts to take the topic seriously and provide something resembling an insightful answer. Unfortunately, this was about the answer I was expecting but not quite what I was hoping for, but I'll attribute that to my vague phrasing. During my stint as SM it was difficult to compete with many of the larger established communities as their servers had much more active paid devs, not to discount the talent and dedication of our own, but it was simply impossible to keep up or surpass them in terms of new features or even general integrity and bug squashing. Most communities were already using the same base plugin as us, making it even more difficult to differentiate ourselves and offer something worth having. As a result, we looked at what outlets we had to separate ourselves from these servers and dig out our own little niche. Things like a wider map variety, fine tuned balancing, willingness to mess around with new ideas and events, and, prominently, our tolerance for tomfoolery and non-traditional playstyles in contrast to sterilized, polished, and heavily moderated servers of other communities allowed us to keep a solid foothold with our own culture and direction. With that being said, I think much of this carries over to the community as a whole. What are we doing to dig out our own niche? Is there something we offer that other communities aren't? Is there some sense of culture or direction the community is aiming towards that would cater towards players ostracized by other communities? Or is everything riding on the idea that we might strike it big with an upcoming game like we've failed to do repeatedly over the years. Not that we shouldn't be putting our all into new projects and games, but is there any focus in the meantime on what we have, or are we just in some awkward limbo until that hopefully comes to fruition? -
Russia Invades Ukraine pt 3
topic replied to Gentoo's BoM in News & Politics
No, the majority of images from the city clearly show most bodies without their hands tied in close proximity to shelling craters, damage, debris. Source: image. Not a video not an account. A picture of bodies. Any forensics or corroborating evidence? Is there a reason all of the restraints are made up of white cloth (potentially the armbands worn in Russian occupied areas) and what appears to be trash and other ground debris in place of zip ties, handcuffs, duct tape, or anything more likely that Russians in a heavily occupied area would have access to? Going to swan dive off the deep end hear and ask you for an explanation why this caption is any more plausible than Ukrainians crafting a false flag from the situation. No, nowhere did I state or imply this. You responded to one of my counterpoints in response to your list of reasons why Russia is very obviously big bad guy (when Ukraine has and is actively doing just about all of the things you mentioned), and I am urging you not to pull shoddily crafted stories out without acknowledging the multitude of attacks against civilians by Ukraine prior to and during the invasion as well as war crimes committed prior to and during. I don't think I implied or stated this anywhere, but I apologize for the confusion if you chose to interpret it that way. You sort of just grazed over this, but I would love to hear your stance on this as I might be a little retarded and don't see this as immediately self evident. I'm in the deep ocean at this point but I'm going to make this ridiculous comparison as people seem to have a hard time internalizing things so far away or trying to reason through actions committed by a person/country they've mentally equated to Darth Vader. If Mexican Police or the Cartel started gunning down American tourists en masse at resorts would it be out of the question for America to seek some sort of reprisal or rescue? Many of the ethnic Russians slaughtered in Ukraine have family in Russia, friends, many of them live in a portion of the country that has been part of Russia, culturally and politically since they were born and long before. When the coup happened and they declared independence, they sought to form a government that would represent them, that would respect their culture and their wishes. In response, tanks rolled on them. Nowhere in my post did I state that this was the case. I said it was an equally or more likely explanation (which it is) which is entirely different from declaring it as the truth. A concept you could stand to grasp AS THE MAJORITY OF ARTICLES YOU ARE READING ARE DOING THE SAME THING. Is there a reason you think that some rando on Twitter is any less credible when drawing a conclusion and citing the same evidence. Do journalists have some access to secret source they won't cite for reasons? Are they less likely to be a paid shill (that is literally their job if you forgot)? Or does the prestige of The Washington Post immediately make them more credible when citing the exact same source. I don't think I said this anywhere. I talked to a native Ukrainian, in providing aid to his village and friends I was able to talk to many other native Ukrainians currently in the country. I don't think this makes me any more educated than anyone else posting here, but it offered some perspective that helped me personally feel more confident in understanding parts of the conflict, regardless of whether or not that is the case. Something I'd encourage you or anyone else here to do if you have the opportunity. I don't watch or read RT, but I would find it pretty humorous if that was actually the case by pure coincidence. Thanks for catching me up, I was unaware. I don't rely on internet validation and the TV to know what to think, but I appreciate the note anyways. I've been playing devil's advocate since day one and I intend to do so as long as you keep providing weak points and bad sources. If you're unable to discern someone picking apart your arguments from standing counter to you, that's on you, but I'm not going to hold that against you. Would you tell the same to someone living in North Korea or Russia at the moment if they tried to make the same case the majority of the people in this thread are about Ukraine? I think at some point, a countries vested interested in a cause, knowingly or otherwise, can often override it's commitment to providing factual and unbiased coverage. This conflict has been the tipping point for me. The amount of information knowingly obscured, twisted, or fabricated by sources that would otherwise be considered credible is ridiculous. Do I think that discredits them entirely or that they can't be trusted on anything? No, most of them are pretty good about domestic affairs even if they tend to routinely slip their own biases in. I just think that it's very difficult to find any of them that can be trusted to give you a good picture of this particular conflict, especially if they are encouraging you to support America sticking their finger into this pie or, God forbid, actually get involved. Source? I've yet to see any evidence of gunshot wounds, but I'd be concede if there is actually proof of this. The majority of the images from Bucha are able to be cross referenced with the satellite imagery, so hopefully this would be the case too. -
Russia Invades Ukraine pt 3
topic replied to Gentoo's BoM in News & Politics
I'm not sure why you used a screencap of my post instead of just quoting lol Regardless, here you have a satellite image of a trench, pictures of dead civilians in a Russian occupied city, and no independent verification of anything, as cited by the articles pasted. Here's a quick thread on a reasonable description of what may have happened https://mobile.twitter.com/antiwar_soldier/status/1511086358110027791 TL;DR most victims appear to be killed by shelling during the time of strong Russian occupation. Russians shelled themselves? At least this is less easily debunked than other alleged war crimes such as dead civilians in Mariupol carrying RUSSIAN AID PACKAGES. Regardless of how you want to interpret it, this is the first evidence of something of this nature from Russian forces over a month into the invasion. I don't think you should continue to play this game until you familiarize yourself with the conflict in Donbas prior to this invasion and all the nastiness entailed. While you're there, feel free to acknowledge the calls for and commission of war crimes by Ukrainian forces and government officials. There's a long list of these, many of them difficult to find a reliable source on, but at least one has been seemingly confirmed by both sides of the conflict. I appreciate your efforts to source something resembling a credible news source, but as stated previously, all sources here are incredibly biased and rely on the same handful of firsthand accounts and images, as cited in the pastes. So feel free to just cite whatever twit or telegram that's being referenced so you can expose yourself to something resembling conscious dialogue.
