  2. So they said to promote a few people, just a quick small promo thread...at least that's what they said at first. Let's get into it! First, join me in welcoming Applily to the Events Team! His new responsibilities will include: Organize, plan, and run events Manage/Promote special events on our servers Manage and monitor gaming tournaments Make sure servers are ready for all special events Schedule events to fill servers in need via the steam community Work with the Administrative Team to create events that cater to community interests Next up, we have a familiar face returning to the Media Team. Join me in welcoming back the very talented crazedkanagroo! He held up the media team when we barely had anyone else, and after a brief hiatus he has come back to make pretty banners once again. His responsibilities will include: Manage forum and community website themes and layouts Manage all forum and community images (awards, rankbars, etc) Manage forum design sections (signature/avatar requests, etc) Work with Marketing team to manage branding and community logos/external advertising Work with Game Divisions to keep in-game branding and design (map textures for SG) up to date and relevant Work with Marketing team to manage social media accounts (Youtube, Twitch, etc) Following that, we have a new person joining the Marketing Team. This person has put in tons of time and effort into this place over the last few months and absolutely crushes any task put in front of him. Noxstar is the newest addition to the Marketing Team! His responsibilites will include: Manage all third party sites/applications. Manage all advertising, sponsorships, and affiliations. Recommend upgrades and general marketing aspects for the community. Research what the community likes / doesn't like. Upkeep the image of SG and help expand. Work with the Media Team to manage branding and community design. Work with Media team to manage social media accounts (Youtube, Twitch, etc). Next, we have a few Community Advisors joining us! These folks are very dedicated and have demoted many hours to helping the servers and contributing to discussions on the forums. Joining the team today will be Hawks, Toasty, and Venom! Their responsibilities will include: Work with the higher staff on implementing important decisions and projects Handling player complaints and issuing bans Moderation of the forum Give awards to members on request Send group invitations to members on request Post in-game server problems on the forum Help in any way to make the servers fun Handle reported posts on the forum In we're gonna have new CAs, we are gonna need a solid Lead Advisor to help them out. This person has displayed great leadership skills and has probably called you bud on more than one occasion. Jumping in as LA is the one, the only, Maniac! His responsibilities will be the same, with the addition of managing the Community Advisors. We're not done yet. Next up, we have two folks joining the Internal Affairs team. It's kind of awkward because I just got done talking about them, but please join me in welcoming Maniac and crazedkanagroo to the team! These two have shown they are more than capable of handling whatever we ask of them, and we know these new roles will be no different. Their responsibilities will include: Handling and resolving admin complaints, player complaints and ban appeals Handling admin disputes as they arise Managing member of the month/staff of the month nominations and award Last, but certainly not least, we have a new Lead Server Manager approaching. I don't know how this little shrimp has managed to climb as far as he has, but at this point I can't do anything but support him. You may know him as a great server manager or as an absolute killer in the scrim server, either way I know you know. Please stand, or I guess sit, and applaud for Trazz. His responsibilities will be the same, with the addition of managing the Server Managers. Congratulations all around!

  9. I was almost right here back in 2015 but then I was stupid and threw away basically everything I had worked for in this community. In all my time away I never thought that over 5 years later I would come back and end up where I am now. I know it's just a gaming community, but I care about this place so this means a lot to me. Thank you everyone.

  13. Okay folks, it's time to get serious for a minute. Two weeks back a fellow community member, roux, suffered a great loss when his house burnt down with all his personal possessions inside. Now roux and his family are stuck living out of their relative's house and trying to work with the insurance company to somehow recover from this horrible situation. Unfortunately, due to uncertain times with Covid and bureaucratic red tape they most likely won't see any money for a long time, and what money they do get won't be nearly enough to cover all of their losses. SteamGamers is a community first and foremost, and when someone in the community suffers we do what we can to help remedy that suffering. So, on August 29th we will be hosting another 12 hour stream similar to our charity stream, only this time all money will go directly to roux and his family to try and help them recover. I know the turnout was big at the charity stream and the support was even stronger than we expected, so we're asking you to bring the same energy and support to this stream. The schedule 12 PM - 3 PM Hawks 3 PM - 6 PM Acer 6 PM - 9 PM BoM 9 PM - 12 AM Hawks Saturday August 29th (all times in EST) There are obviously less people up there and longer run times. something we chose to do differently this time. I'm sure you guys won't complain though because I know you guys all love Hawks and he'll be up there TWICE. I really urge everyone to come and join in on the fun and hype of the 12 hour stream even if you can't donate any money. I look forward to seeing everyone there on Saturday!

  15. Honestly, people will always have an issue with change no matter what improvements are made. Thankfully this is a gaming community not a professional business, so there is no need for grading right? The fact is, this new forum has insane new functionality for many different aspects of the community and that alone should outweigh any minor features people feel they are missing. I say minor because I can't for the life of me fathom what is so big and important to people that they have to be publicly shitting on what is a job absolutely well done. I'm assuming maybe people aren't educated on the fact that we completely switched our software and therefore some functionality is just different. Similarly so, there are a lot of minor bugs that are better found by simply piling everyone in, as fresh sets of eyes often lead to the quickest results during bug finding + testing. The new forums are here and pretty well fully functioning, with improvements coming to fix those minor bugs and other things people feel are missing. The people working on this project couldn't predict every little problem that might occur when the forums went live, nor could they predict what people love vs hate from the old or new forums. All in all, the improvements and changes combined with the fresh new look deserve nothing less than a "job well done" especially considering all the hours poured into the project for free by people who simply care about making this community better. We have bug reports and other ways to contact people should someone feel anything is missing or out of place, so I don't see why anyone needs to be publicly and vaguely criticizing the efforts put into the project unless you were right there working with the people who made it happen.

  19. As you can see, we have changed around a lot of the rank names and we also remade the rank bars to work better with the new forums. You'll be seeing the new rank bars all over the forums and the new rank names being used in place of the old ones. I know it might take a little getting used to, but a lot of thought was put into changing these names to be more accurate and uniform.   20. Hey folks, The Marketing Team has been working hard recently to come up with new supporter ranks allowing us to...nah that's not true. This project started way back in December, before you guys even knew the Marketing Team existed. The reason we're even a team right now is because we managed to see a way to do this, a way to get to the bigger picture. A buncha dudes who owe nothing to this community sat in TS and thought of a new SG, a fresh and overhauled community that can keep up in 2020. We thought of new changes, we thought of ways to expand and grow, and we thought of you guys who always there to support us. Every change we make around here is to make it better for you guys, and these changes are no different. Sure, we want your money, but we also want you to see the great and awesome things you're supporting when you do. I know I'm supposed to be announcing the new ranks, but I just really wanted to thank you guys for supporting us all this time. All these big changes you see rolling out today are completely on you guys, we couldn't have gotten here without your support. This change, and many others, have had people working on them on and off for the entire year if not longer. It's not easy, but we do it because we care about you guys and know that you will keep supporting us as we make this place bigger and better. So, without further ado So yeah, we added a third rank called Elite Supporter and you're gonna swipe the card and get it. Like now. Alright, I know you're probably like wow this guy is being incredibly bold and demanding. I'm not being bold, I just know what you're thinking and I'm telling you, you want this rank. It's got the best color of all the ranks, it's got the best perks, and it's got that sprinkly glitter shit on the forums that is gonna make everybody else jealous. I know you like being the best and I think it's time for you to upgrade.
