  1. The map was already removed and it's not on the nomination list anymore - its removal occurred at the same time the new map was added. Are you still seeing it on the nominations list? Doesn't seem to show for me... in fact, I deleted the original map from the server.
  2. Presents

In Canada, Christmas presents come on December 26.
  3. When I was a regular I used to get so pissed off at admins who didn't investigate RDMs or freekills when I was freekilled, and I would have to spend 45 minutes editing a video, uploading it to Youtube, and making a player complaint instead of the admin just dealing with it in-game. I did this for ~3 years before I got admin. Trust me when I say that I feel your frustration. When I got admin I made a promise to myself to never let anyone else have to deal with the BS I had to deal with as a player. In fact, I debated this exact topic with the higher-ups a month after I received admin. But now that I'm on the other side of the fence, I started to realize that things aren't as simple as they seem. "Investigating" situations often means checking logs and mediating between two players. However, logs often don't reveal the entire situation and mediation between two players can only do so much before you're forced to make assumptions and potentially punish someone who didn't deserve it. Whether or not admins investigated in the past is irrelevant. Thinking about it from our point of view, we'd have to make assumptions to punish players who may not have even deserved it. This is why admins can only punish for situations they saw. If an admin fucks up and punishes someone who didn't deserve it, they'd be punished themselves. I get it. On other servers admins investigate and try to go beyond mediation to actually come up with a punishment. But at SG admins are held to a pretty high standard and actions do have consequences. While it's time-consuming, the most clear-cut way to get someone punished for continually rule-breaking is to whip out OBS, record, and make a player complaint. I'm sorry for that, but we've tried many ways to make it as easy as possible for you by having admins frequent Teamspeak, shoutbox, and Discord, as well as installing calladmin on our servers. Hopefully these options help you realize that there's a lot more involved than there may seem to be and we've tried to make this process as painless and accessible as possible.
  4. If a demotion has a reason which others can learn from and is a widespread problem we get gentle reminders from the higher-ups saying so. It's none of our business why someone was demoted. This is for the same reason why at work if your co-worker was fired or demoted, the company will rarely let others know the reason for demotion. It's common courtesy to not inhibit that person from looking for positions at other communities. Transparency is a good thing, yes, but only if it's needed and if there is something to gain from the general public being able to see into the process. There is nothing to gain from learning reasons behind why someone is demoted. A demotion is a very personal thing and it's none of our business. While you mentioned that the gossip that arises from a demotion trumps the drama that would happen if demotion reasons were announced, I disagree completely. If the demoted person wants to handle that drama by letting others know why he was demoted, fine. But it makes no sense to make that choice for the person.
  5. We found some things that need to be changed in the new version. Map suggestion pending these changes.
  6. New Name

    Be my prodigy excellenté
  7. Plugin removed temporarily while we investigate this. Thanks for the heads up
  8. Oh damn I was hoping you'd have a list of the secrets on this new version of this map
  9. Kowalski, analysis.
  10. Taking a look, will have a response today. Thank you @TheZZL for providing a detailed analysis of the map's secrets... saves us a ton of time
  11. I definitely agree with spawn camping being a huge issue that narrows the focus of Surf DM and heavily discourages new players from being able to get credits. However, now that spawn protection has been fixed and the player has 7 seconds to dip out, would you agree that spawn camping is likely an issue that would take care of itself as there wouldn't be anyone to spawn kill? Or perhaps we could entertain lengthening that time if there isn't enough time for the player to get away. Personally I think it adds a burden to the admins that could potentially be resolved just by having spawn protection fixed (as it is now), but I don't have much experience with Surf DM or its ecosystem so feel free to disagree .
  12. Unpacked map is too large for our server so it won't work. Thanks for the suggestion though!
  13. Rejected largely due to the reasoning above. Thanks for the suggestion!
  14. Unfortunately this map is too large for our server (we need it to be `DecompressBZipToDisk: 'maps/jb_lost_planet_fix.bsp.bz2' too big (max 150.0 megabytes, use launch option -maxdownloadfilesizemb N to override).`
  15. We have something in the works for addressing old times that were broken. As for the present we patched AFK Manager so that it doesn't factor in +right and +left'ing players. Let us know if this isn't working, thanks.
  16. We actually had notifications for chat orders during !fo but it broke. We'll look into getting it fixed; thanks for the suggestion!
  17. Congratulations on the server release! I'll be on shortly to try it out glad to see your hard work finally come to fruition!
  18. From Death Stranding, the first game made by Kojima since MGSV and his departure from Konami. Beautiful pieces.
  19. This here. Given this is in the questions and info subforum and the question was answered I'm going to lock this. Nothing new has been brought up that hasn't already been discussed in the past 30 days. Thanks for the question (:
  20. My pupper Penny (:
  21. The majority of people in the community are under 18. Not sure it'd be a good idea for people of this age to meet other strangers of varying ages. That being said, if you're tight with some people in this community there's nothing wrong with getting together to hang, but a community-wide meetup seems weird given this fact.
  22. "Lead Manager" makes it seem as though the AM manages the managers of other teams as well. May be too ambiguous, although I can't come up with an alternative at this time. EDIT: Maybe "Server Lead"?
