  1. That's the part that the people who want the community to grow needs to figure out. How do you make steam-gamers the main chill spot for multiple groups of friends again when its much harder in 2023 to keep people from just playing games with their friends outside of a community while not having to deal with the drama or people you may not get along with. This is what I was talking about in Jazzy's post. You need charismatic people that are willing to basically pull people from other games and try and get them to join discord and stick around. How do you incentivize someone like Extreme or Hawks to basically sell the entirety of their free time to basically being a community appointed friend who just sits in SG's discord and maintains friendships with a bunch of people that they may not even necessarily like in order to grow again. If you can figure that out, step two would be figuring out how to corral the idiots who actively make any sort of VC or initiatives taken here a million times more difficult due to their need for attention. If I had to vote for any of these game I would say rust because it's popping off on youtube again after a bunch of the recent updates. With that being said I wouldn't be willing to commit time to bootstrapping a rust server that would only be around for a month. In addition to that without massive seeding efforts, or a partnership with a content creator, dead server will more than likely stay dead.
  2. Could be wrong but I think you misinterpreted what he meant. FotM as in like what is popular within the gaming community as a whole, not a poll of what the remaining population wants to play here. the idea is to use the popular games to bring members back to the discord/forums from those games and reinstate a pipeline of fresh blood.
  3. I miss you jeet

  4. tinychat killed their own platform 3-5 years ago by requiring subscriptions to have large rooms The clarification made is already how SG has operated since at least 2017 with AO's/SM's pretty much getting free reign on their servers without having to worry about doing any of the things you listed out. I'm not sure how others would view it, but, if I was having to pay for my own VM to host my own server there would be no point in doing it here and ultimately not gaining anything from it other than some community clout and maybe a small boost to initial population. Opens the door to too many potential issues from the community's as well as the server owners perspective at the end of the day considering how volatile relationships are here. Yep, don't tell anyone anything you wouldn't want the entire community knowing is a good rule of thumb. Have to remember that the average demographic for people more involved in the discussions/hanging out portion of things was high school/early adults for the longest time and I'm sure you remember how gossipy those ages are. People were sharing BoM's and others photos/photoshops long before he was permed. Just another example of things that come with the territory when you allow shit behaviors to fester. Unfortunately for the community as a whole, a contingent of people that either couldn't see the writing on the wall or were being willfully ignorant allowed it to pass the point of no return. With all of that being said: It's refreshing to see someone who still cares enough to try. Keep up the good fight @jazzy
  5. 1) Agreed. 20 CSS bots being listed is carrying the "12 servers x players" info every time I've checked recently. 2) Disagree on having AO's foot the bill on their own servers. While centralizing resources and ownership can be a burden at times it is overall a much more efficient way to manage and run an operation like this. Decentralizing leaves the door open for the people involved to do some very underhanded things if relationships sour. Considering Caution has previously stated money isn't an issue when it comes to keeping the community afloat I don't necessarily think this is something anyone other than he should be worried about. Might as well since things are about as dead as it can be. Nostalgia aside the current naming of the community does seem silly to anyone not involved at this point. consider not running off all the people who could theoretically provide actual value to said servers going forward. Half the reason this place is in the state it is today is relationship and asset management. The other half is decision making or the lack of decision making at times. Advocated for this multiple times over the years. The only issues here is finding ways to convert in-game interactions into membership in environments that are not exclusively branded or controlled by us. In addition it takes certain personality types to be dedicated to growing the community this way and there doesn't seem to be a lot of passion for the community at this point. Outside of a Police RP server that I have no idea is active or not and a return to GMOD TTT which I also have no metrics on whether its active either, what else has been going on recently? Not asking to be a dick, just out of the loop. BD's aren't being omnipotent gods at this point - While I have also advocated for transparency at the rank, I don't think it would be of any use at this point considering the engagement and groups left. Would be a great idea if interest eventually returns, but, for the time being just promote the people who need to be promoted based off of interest, dedication, and motivation. considering the dynamics of this community and community servers as a whole: opening the floor to the general population is just laying out ideas and providing evaluations on personnel for other communities. Haven't engaged seriously with this community on any level for around a year before this response so I'm not entirely sure what the general sentiment of regulars, basic staff, higher-up staff is, but, without active population this is essentially a nostalgia trip or a trolling grounds for those still here or returning. How are people supposed to have fun when the servers, forums, and discord are dead? With the new player/member pipeline collapsing the community is essentially a place for the last two cliques left here to circlejerk and for everyone else not involved to look back on with fond memories and what-ifs. Community has trended in a horrible direction over the last few years. I agree with what has been said here. Comes back to relationship management and decision making at the end of the day. Place has always been Clique-y, but, allowing certain groups to run rampant and pushing other groups out due to interpersonal reasons has been the death sentence. Overall, place still has nominal interest at this point which means if you can get people on the same page things can be salvaged. There will always be a contingent of members that have love for the community and the memories made here - just have to organize and incentivize people better to achieve the desired results.
  6. same area that you were planning a few years ago?
  7. Cautions making OPEC money its fine. Thank you and the rest of the TA team for continuing to be the backbone of the community though. Place would really be gone already if it wasn't for you guys.
  8. If you have a microcenter in your area that's the first place I would look.
  9. you're still ugly, kid

  10. hope life is treating you well friend

  11. Another meeting scheduled during working/commute hours for most of the US. I'm sure all the children and unemployed degens who show up will provide intelligent, well thought out, and rational feedback.

  13. dont worry kiddo im still here to bully you
  14. Ambient swim is great for this
  15. Hurry up and post the thread so the forums get content and I can redeem my “get out of jail free” card BoM promised me for interacting with the post.
  16. I bet you only eat it steamed and/or slathered in cheese. Oven roasted broccoli with a little olive oil and seasoned to taste is absolutely S+ tier
  17. Pretty sure I made an argument for this at the time of creation as it doesn't really make sense to not have these three teams working closer than they currently are. Design team should be involved in more than just rank bars, shitty waifu logos, and server/event banners. I understand the premise of volunteer work and peoples motivation levels though.
  18. Depends on the context really. Most people who respond here respond to constructive criticism in immature ways so it makes it easy to weed out the less than level headed people. Plenty of examples of people replying to clarify as singular persons perception.
  19. yee yee ass all lives matter answer bro.
